Excellent!
Thank you!
Excellent!
Thank you!
nice allround bass sound. added a studio eq post amp.
Maybe I should set up the Hartke HA3500 + 410XL cab and shoot a few profiles.
I think I have a D112 here somewhere...
p.s.
a Focusrite Penta + GEQ profile might also be useful.
Or the Waves CLA plugin for bass...
hmmm...
Well, profiling an amp that moves around is going to be a challenge for the mic placement
it's a terrible strain on the recording engineer
Anybody with one of those? Ethos, Blackstar, Hughes&Kettner, AMT.......those are all great units and great sounds, and with the KPA you can add the cabs that you like...
Vox AC30 amp plug?
Display MoreHi everyone.
My name is Jocke Skog and I have been working with modelers and such since back in 1993 when we used a Boss ME-5 and the very first Sansamp. Those were the days.
On my route to where I am today I've been working with Impulse reverbs since 2001, mostly with rooms but later on, cabs. I was the co-owner of Fear and loathing studios together with Meshuggah, so I played around in the studio, miking cabs for months while I was still living on money from those old Clawfinger albums. Btw, I do play the keyboard in the band but that just means that I'm very good at tweaking stuff, and that I can't play guitar solos.
I first laid my eyes on the KPA on NAMM 2010, but I didn't have the right time to test it properly (too much stuff to see). During that time, I was happy with what the AxeFX Ultra could do for me. I've always been irritated that I needed to tweak to get "almost there". Now I have it going to an outboard preamp/compressor/exciter and that makes it feel better. I missed NAMM 2011, but my buddies Fredrik Thordendal and Ola Englund was there and seemed happy enough to get my attention again. I was lucky enough to borrow Olas KPA and did this video: KPA vs Dual Recto
So there it is. I'm saving up. Soon I'll have one too. In teh meantime I'll try to avoid getting into trouble *cough*.
Peace.
/Jocke
hey Jocke,
great to have you here!
I got to the Ultra later than you, but I made it here faster hehehe...
You even have the "slam punk"!
good eyes.
the 60's fuzz is even from the first batch that had a metal casing.
btw. the Cyberdrive is a really good pedal (dist + 'stuck' wah + I added a starve pot), and the chorus was 'modded' (one snip, heh) to a nice vibrato.
they're well made, easy to mod (no SMDs) and underrated.
my pedals are very happy!!!

doing the same with fuzzes.
the Vox AC30 amp-plug has a surprisingly good cab sim.
F.A.N.T.A. doesn't work with line level signals, sadly.
in the cab block, press 'store' and choose 'cabinet', it's a bit much to do for the cabs in there so...
this is the thread you're looking for:
http://www.kemper-amps.com/for…page=Thread&threadID=3706
on your USB stick, put them in shared/cabinet and import
also, get Tills cabs, they're glorious (1960 & Recto 4x12s with plenty of variations)
alternatively, you could lock 'Stomps', 'Amplifier', 'EQ' and 'Effects' and switch profiles until you find the cab sound you're looking for, save it and bingo.
The latency is quoted as 2ms, so its probably down to the noise gate as said above.
that's what it takes sound to travel ~68cm in air.
I don't remember ppl noticing latency when they were standing 3 meters in front of their cab.
connect the KPA directly to an active speaker and see how it feels.
I still think this might have to do with software monitoring issues.
are you monitoring the KPA directly?
4x10 combo
Fantastic sound
Had to lower the amp compression for the clean sounds
But then it is magic
yes, it was tweaked a little bit.
return Power Sagging, Compressor and the Tonestack to the '0' values for the original.
excellent!
thanks!
good one!
here's a setting based on the Xotic EP Booster:
