THX. The GRS OR CH1 01 works perfect with my CS Strat . Thank you again ...
Wow! Thanks so much. Took the GRS OR CH1 01 and made a performance by lowering the gain in several increments for the 5 slots. Killer sound all the way down to clean (Gain 1.8). Works for humbuckers and SCs. Thanks.
Thanx.
My favorite so far is GRS OR CH1OD 02 with my Strat.
I was recording a band this weekend, and I managed to profile the the setup we used.
Orange AD30HTC
Peavey 5150 cab with Celestion V30 speakers.
Sennheiser e906 microphone.

They are also on RE
Enjoy
the 5150II profiles are amazing. Perfect definition and that special kind of thumping. I love it!
Thanx man
Hey
I had a lot of fun playing your Fender profiles today !
They are really awesome
Thanks man !
Thank you
It seems to be working great set up like this at 1024 samples. Thank you!
You are welcome.
Yes that's a great idea. That way I don't need to change the buffer sample size at all and I can keep it at 1024.
thanks a lot for your help.
Ill give it a go tomorrow and post my results.

Display MoreOkay cool! 1024 it is
My cpu thanks you lol.
So just to confirm, if I want to use the amp sims in logic, I would then have to look more closely at the buffer sample size? If I want to record a bass line with their bass amp sim, I would then look to lower it as I would be monitoring through Logic into the 18i8?
But if I'm using my Kemper or a microphone or anything outside of the DAW to record in, I should just set it to 1024 and not worry?
What I would do is to use the Kemper for listening while u record, and just record the di from the Kemper (SPDIF). And when you are happy with your take, just insert the bass amp sim on the di track and you are done:)
You could do the same thing for guitar as well.
As long as you monitor through mix control (e.g. with Kemper, microphone) you shouldn't worry.
I don't have any problems myself and fortunately my computer is very fast but I tend to use the monitor out on the mix control just because it's set it as default and I forget to change it. I was under the impression when you change the monitor out to daw in mix control that's when your lower buffer becomes more of a requirement and your monitoring. Is this correct? Talking about the software monitoring checkbox has kind of threw me. Also out of curiosity, what are the advantages between both monitoring options? Both seem to work the same to me.
Software Monitoring is used for monitoring through plugins while you record. Amp sims, compressor, reverb etc. High CPU usage.
Mix Control low CPU usage and low latency.

Yes I have that unchecked and am still hearing everything through my 18i8 and can control the volume with the monitoring knob.
sound right?
if yes, shall I just increase the buffer sample size to 1024 and not worry about it again?
That is correct.
Okay. So really the optimal way forward is to just monitor through mix control and keep the buffer sample size high at all times, freeze tracks when I'm not using them, bounce tracks with lots of takes that I'm satisfied with.
Right?
i just need GR to tell me if I am in fact monitoring through mix control. I think I am, but just to confirm.
If software monitoring in Logic preferences is left unchecked you are monitoring through Saffire Mix Control. See my pic.
Display MoreOkay. Although if I'm monitoring through Mix Control it shouldn't matter right? And then I can keep it high all the time and nt have to worry?
How do I freeze tracks?
With all the drums I've got something like 40 tracks plus all the takes from the guitar tracks and vocals (20+ each track)
so so should I just bounce the take or comp I'm happy with and delete all the takes?
You can keep it high all the time if you monitor with mix control. Are you recording to the internal HDD? If so that could be you problem. I always record to an external HDD.
I completely agree with GRStudios... as long as you don't have to monitor through Logic or play some software instrument there is no point to set a low buffer. With a higher buffer you'll have less CPU load and you are definitely more "safe" about your recording
Exactly
Thanks Ballantine
GR: I don't have pops and clicks when using the Kemper I just wanted to make sure I had it set correctly.
How come your buffer sample size is set so high? Mine is at32 samples with no issue .ii'm asking because I thought that thought that having it too high could cause latency?
If set high it causes latency if you monitor through logic. I only have the buffer size at 64 or 32 if I record with amp sim. Other than that I have it on 1024. It will not cause latency at 1024 if you monitor through mix control.
So 32 samples for Kemper and higher for vocals?
I've used 32 samples to record guitar via microphone before and not had this issue, although I've always done it with no plugins loaded and the guitar as the first instrument in so maybe that has something to do with it. I have got a fair amount of plugins loaded in this project.
Can an incorrect buffer size affect the processed tone in the DAW?
Hi. I have the same interface as you, and I have no clicks and pops.
This is the settings I use in Logic:

And you should use Mix Control for your monitoring:

Just remember to set sync source to SPDIF
Hope that helps:)
Seriously the most fun I've had on the guitar, after years of searching for that elusive 80's roar! Had to come back on here, as I can't put the guitar down. Many thanks again...
Thanks. Excellent profiles. Really like the Super Reverb
That's great:) Thanks guys.
Thanx man
I'm glad you like them.
Hey!
Ok. But how's the result? I've read everywere that you should connect amps speaker out to a real cab for more authentic profiles. Haven't tried your method, have heard that profiles gets a bit muffled when not have cab connected. But it's much faster as you say. :kr
I tried both methods, and the profiles came out sounding identical. For this to work you need two speaker outputs.
I use the Hotplate as "cab", and that's it.
