Thanks Jeff for pointing this out and C. Kemper for implementing it. This feature is a must to sculpt your tone accurately, not only in the studio but also in live situations.

Thank you guys!!

I am having problems to find a proper SPDIF cable in my local shops. Some people have recommended me to use a RCA instead. What would you recommend?

Great news on the foot controller but there's no way I'm going to pay more than 200€ for it.

What are your experiences?

Am I doing this right?

They have improved it a lot with the last firmware in performance mode. I was having almost half a second delay between slots and now it's definitely shorter. I haven't tried it in browser mode though.

I was looking for the lightest solution out there because my back is quite broken. I cannot be happier. I've been gigging with a 44 during more than one year (first with a pod xt and then with a profiler) and it works wonders. Volume pot rarely goes above 10 o'clock with a heavy hitter drummer. Headroom at 11 o'clock starts to die, but nothing serious because that's already higher than you probably need.
Pros:
- Lightweight
- Tons of headroom
- Great priceCons:
- It doesn't have an On/Off switch -
I'd second this. A meter would be great to know where my signal is before hitting the red output led and cotrolling the overall output level of my rigs in an easier way.

I just wanted to inform that this has been addressed in firmware 2.6 and now the profiler switches slots in a very smooth way! AMAZING!! Great update guys!

The improvement of the rig switching time has always been on our todo list. Since other important features are about to be finished, this topic has rised to a top position on the list
I have been worried about this since I got my profiler and that's the only reason why I haven't used it live yet. I play fast music based on quick changes where every milisecond counts so these are great news!

To be honest, that's the only reason why I am not using the Profiler live. Really excited to hear such news!
QuoteWhat version of firmware are you using? How many rigs do you have in your library? What are you using for a footswitch and what version of firmware is in your footswitch?
Thanks for the answer OneEng1 I'm using the last firmware and I have around 400 rigs installed. The test was done without MIDI involved, just by changing slots directly on the profiler.

Thank you for the link bigHF. It seems they are going to take care of it

I love my Profiler but there's something that is driving me crazy and that is how slow it changes between slots in performance mode.
I'm having an average of 200 ms of delay. Sometimes it goes up to 400 ms, which makes it impossible to manage in live situations.
Would it be possible to increase the profiler response in this subject or at least keep a constant delay?
-
The problem isn't silence, it's delayed response.
Exactly.
but keep in mind that even 450ms is still pretty short
I really believe this should be addressed urgently. 450 ms is almost half a second for a 1500€ unit. Pod XT has no delay and it costed 5 times less than the profiler...

Using the setup suggested by Lokasenna (one channel recording on the foot switch with a mic, the other using the output of the Kemper), I measured the following times:
(...)
I think that <0.2 seconds is fairly acceptable in all situations that I perform under. Of course, faster would be better.
If anyone is interested in the raw track ".wav" files, let me know.
FYI, the "dead time" between rigs was only around 10mSec. I didn't see any transients in the switch-over at all.
Thank you for the info!
I made the test myself by pressing left and right soft buttons of the "arrow" to change between performances. The results are quite strange...
Here is the audio: https://mega.co.nz/#!DFIUnaqJ!p6_lnGzKghZaaILRUUJKfl8xWZ9xYEYqmrGbkItH6ms
What you hear is me changing from slot 3 to 4 and then 4 to 3 repeatedly. Performance 3 is KM-COSMOGENESIS and Performance 4 is the same profile but with a Hyper Chorus loaded. So I changed between the same profile to see if the delay time improved but it didn't help at all.
The first and second times I changed from 3 to 4 I got an approx delay of 250 ms BUT the 3rd time I did the same, I got a delay of 450 ms ( ). So the delay is not consistent after all, which makes things even worse. I mean, if I know that I have to measure half a beat to land correctly in the next bar... How can I do it if the delay I am getting is not consistent?
-
It might be useful if anyone with recording software could measure the actual length of the gap on their setup, just to see if we're all getting drastically different times.
I'm seeing about 0.025s here.
That's a good idea and after doing that, I have discovered that the problem is not the silence when switching slots (depending on the slot, I'm getting from 0,005s to 0,020s of silence).
The ACTUAL problem is how slow the profiler reacts when you tell it to change slots either from a MIDI controller or by pressing the soft buttons.
That's a huge problem to me since I change slots by following my rhythm. With the profiler, I miss always the next beat and that's something that didn't happen with a very old POD XT!!
Does the profiler struggles THAT much when changing slots? I think that it should have enough power to do it better than a shitty POD released 10 years ago.
Any ideas?

Thank you for the answers
I don't think it's a PC problem because it also happens when pressing the front panel buttons (left/right in the arrow pad). -
Hello everyone. When I'm changing slots via MIDI in performance mode, there's a noticeable gap (silence) before the next slot is loaded. Is this normal?
I have been using a POD XT to date and switching between banks have been always smooth and unnoticeable, that's why I cannot believe that such a monster as Kemper struggles that much when changing slots.Have you experienced this gap with your profiler? If so, have you managed to avoid or improve it?
Thank you!!

If for some reason you change the owner name setting in your Kemper afterwards, the favourites you added before won't show up anymore
That's exactly what happened. Rig Manager asked if I wanted to match Kemper owner name with RM one.Since RM is still in Beta, I'd suggest to include a message like "If you change your Kemper owner name, Favourites will be lost" to avoid confusions.
Thank you for your answers!
