Make sure you do a full format, not a "quick" format.
PS. If you format to exFAT you'll be able to transfer higher volumes of data.

Here the helix standard is 1500 us dollars. I paid about that for my kemper and remote brand new.
Highly doubt you bought yours for $1500.00 anywhere brand new with remote man, maybe used yeah, just sayin
Even in Singapore the bundle is 2500+ US Dollars which is no surprise since it's the most expensive city in the world haha.

Several years ago, I was in a hurry to set up an account and every username that I could think of with my real name, Scott, were taken. I finally got pissed off and entered NotScott, and it worked! So I use it on several forums now to save aggravation.
My avatar is Scott but it is not from several years ago.
GREAT Scott!
It's a good idea for sure Ash!
Yes, I realised that after posting my reply so thanks for correcting me.
I turned the inputs up after switching to 'line' and had no sound. The two main KPA outputs are connected in to the front of the interface. I will either get some 1/4 cables or consider upgrading my Interface so I can connect via SP/DIF.
Consider upgrading the interface, connect via SP/DIF. I find this way to be great, and it free's up your mic pre's.
The 2i, 4i etc from what I've read and heard are decent but don't offer enough flexibility and have issues such as this etc...
Motu or RME is good middle ground budget wise or UAD and Apogee which are considerably more but you get what you pay for IME.
Display MoreThanks dudes!
Made a new version today (same link in first post).
I've kept the bass but put in some analog synths (Korg Minilogue, MS-20, Dreadbox Erebus and Arturia Microbrute). It's not there yet but I like where it's going.
Edit: I filmed some of my takes for the latest version and edited those clips together to make a video. Always nice to have something to look at while listening, even if it's my face.
Just need a half naked dame running around and it's primo lol. Seriously though, sounds mo bettah
Yup, that sucks!!! I was just watching old footage of them with Bon Scott and wondering how he was doin?
RIP Malcolm!!!
Don't know of any of hand, sorry. I'm with @paults, although, the Altec 417-8H speaker might've helped.
Randy Rhoads used these speakers too. Not as muddy/dark as greenbacks.
Look for a Mark 1 or 2 profile?
I dig! Like your vocals here man, sounds great
Replace the rhythm gits with some ominous synth/keys/organ?
Whatever you decide will be great but I like the bass.
Cheers,
Shawn
Cool, that Felix looks solid!!! That should do
Cheers,
Shawn
Hey, first of all thanks for the feedback!
Yup, I know what you mean. Thing is though, with a song like Minor Swing, its sorta difficult finding a balance between the established and the new. Its sorta like staging a Shakespeare play I guess. I mean, how is one supposed to say the "to be or not to be" soliloquy and have it sound fresh after the thousands and thousands of people that have done it before (and likely much better than) you... In the case of Grapelli its just almost impossible to try to top his lyrical virtuosity and my personal issue is that I sometimes have the feeling, when using one of his trademark licks, that I can easily fall into mimicking his style too much. And since I'm a million years away from his talent and groove that just doesn't work so well for me...
Anyway, maybe I'll still give it a try with one or two licks next timeAny specific passage you're referring to here or do you mean it in general? Is the loop itself what you find to loud or the violin?
Cheers!
No worries, I think your playing is great man.
You're rendition/interpretation here is solid and I agree with your analogy, it is tough to be original. I prefer it when an artist puts their own spin, flare and technique on a cover rather than exact note for note robotic playing (that can have a time and place too).
With regards to the loop I feel it starts out solid with the violin but by the time you add the vocal harmonies and come out of that passage plus add the modulation it gets kinda complicated/busy. Overall volume of that particular section you may want to lower just a bit but when you hit the outro it's bang on, nice dynamics and well played. Especially like the tails for the ending.
Either way it's a cool piece of work, I wish I could play violin.. period.
Ps. I hit your YT channel, nice stuffs there too!
Cheers,
Shawn
That's really interesting man.
I gotta behonest though I was hoping for that classic Grappelli lick as this has been afavorite song of mine for many, many moons.
A bit busy for me when everything is looped, maybe abit loud in the mix? Nevertheless, nice arrangement and well donepiece for sure. You sure nailed his sound at the beginning.
Cheers
Free till November 30
I've used this for years along with others that I paid full price for! It's powerful and I use it quite a bit.
Gotta have an Ilok acct. and create an account.
Ya they do some cool stuff, they'll even calibrate your headphones if sent to them... pretty sweet! Looking forward to hearing some more mixes with this man
I'll be looking into them closer as my mixes could use some help lol. I thought about selling my KRK monitors and upgrading to Focals and buying expensive headphones etc... could be the answer right here.
Hi, getzzn mentioned the K&K Pure Mini and that's what I use in my Martin. Does the trick very well plus a good price point. I like it better than my old Fishman (cant remember the model), and the Anthem. I suppose it depends on what pre-amp you use for color but it sounds good all around to me.
Ps. There are some great packs for acoustic done with high end pre's etc, might want to check some out if you're running direct?
Soundtoys Little Plate for FREE http://www.soundtoys.com/
Sweet, thanks for the tip!!!
Need ILOK account and a soundtoys account but works like a charm and doesn't expire
Love a good plate reverb and this one looks awesome.
Cheers.
Display MoreI couldn't wait for Black Friday, so I bought a few things: one was this nifty JHS Booster Splitter. They were having a 20% off sale for Single's Day at the music store, so I picked one up to integrate into my setup. Works like a charm.
The other thing I bought, which I'm even more excited about, is Sonarworks Reference 4 Studio. My mixes really suck, to be polite, and I've always known it's because of the sub-optimal spaces I set my studio up in. So when some of the guys here talked about this software, I've really been hoping to get it. Glad I waited, because they came out with Reference 4 just a couple of months ago.
Well, just to give an example of how great I think this thing is, and why I would recommend it, listen to this mix. When I posted it, I thought it was the whizz, little did I know. In hindsight, you could hear only one synth, everything else was buried, making me sound like the guy Joe Bonamassa warned you about.

Again, I'll reiterate it, sounded great on my monitors, so I was hoping it translated well. It's not too bad, but I tried out that software today... .And what a difference it made!

Note, I still haven't received my reference mic to measure my room, so this was pretty much mixed on headphones and I am super impressed. I can't wait to try this out on some metal mixes, have a feeling it's going to be massive.
If it goes on sale for Black Friday or even Christmas, I'd really recommend getting this if you struggle with your mixes like I do. Of course, take that with a pinch of salt... It's day 1 and I haven't even got my mic.
Wow... what a difference! I've always used Izotope for mixes but this is impressive too. Thanks.
I'm waiting for some Yammy DXR / DSR FRFR's.
I seeem to keep coming back to these even after all the demos and suggestions.
