This is my first little test with soundcloud, never used it. Used R U sirus Bogner xtc CH3 Plexi, tweaked a tad, not much though. I didnt realize frankenstein had a slow chorus on it, but I can add that later if anyone really cares. Could use maybe a tad more high end, but this is pretty damn close. I think you loose alittle high end with soundcloud as well, but definitely worth listening to. Will be putting all of my music up shortly. Take a listen

another one with a cab from a producer you may all recognize...;) same amp profile, different cab.
-
one more, alittle more high end. This is about as close as I think I can get. tighter than the original (bottom end) and a hair less bottom end, but pretty awesome if I do say so myself. Enjoy
-
where did you get the cabs from?
-
Nice playing, but hard to tell if the Sneap cab is really any better since the chorus was added to those clips.

To me it's an obvious yes even with chorus it's blatantly apparent the difference. I will do one without the chorus no problem.

Hello could you upload the profile please....iced earth rocks
-
I can upload the tweaked ru Sirius one, no problem, definitely not the other two, sorry guys.
-
Blackbird...As you requested, no chorus. Sneap cabinet from a 5153 profile of his, VHT GP3 preamp.

Thanks for posting that VESmedic. The Sneap cab definitely sounds great, ableit with more low-end and scoop. But I still wouldn't consider it 'better' than the original track you made. And that's not meant to be negative, I just think the term 'better' is subjective. Both are 'better' for different situations.
I should say however, I am listening at work through headphones. Actually playing the profile or hearing it through a powered monitor could make a huge difference. But from a basic recording perspective, they are both great tones.

Glad you liked it blackbird. The sneap cab is MUCH thicker that is for sure, with low end in all the right places. Slightly scooped by me on the EQ because the original profile is actually quite midrangey. That iced earth tone is more scooped than people realize too I think ( not super scooped or anything, just more than most people think). The cab just sounds much bigger when tracking, the guy knows what he's doing obviously. It's also a pretty dark profile, as this was actually a profile for Colin Richardson, who likes to do alot of post EQ work from what I understand. DEFINITELY listen in your car or on studio monitors if you can. A/B with the original, and I think you will see how much closer that is than the original clip I put up if you really listen. Hell they even seem like they were miced similarly, eerily close.
-
FYI I meant A/B The latest clip I just put up with the original Frankenstein recording. Then compare to the original profile I put up, the difference will be hugely apparent.

Like the raw Sneap Version a lot. Just about the right amount of punch and low-end as well as a nice crispy and crunchy portion.
I used to listen to Iced Earth a lot and still like them. This clip is getting very close to their tone. -
How did you get that Sneap cab??
All clips are sounding nice! -

All clips are sounding nice!Lets just say I have good friends ;). One of very good friends just got done doing an album with Richardson. Corey from trivium is a good friend of mine, it's his profile from their album. The real profile is of a 5153 into a Krank 4x12 , miced with a db112 and am sm57.

Now that I've finally got my new rig in working order, I figured it was time for some tonematching practice. Where better to start than the mighty Mr. Schaffer?

The amp is the same Bogner profile that VESMedic1 used (r.u.sirius - Bogner XTC CH3 Plexi), but with a Marshall 1960 cab from the JCM900DECAP profile on the rig exchange. After that, just a little bit of EQ on the guitars to fit the bass in and the usual bells and whistles on the master track.
(The clean part is the Amp Factory's Jazz Chorus profile... I think it's called Remember Me, with a bunch of post-processing to cut out that electric guitar "quack")
