Would be nice if we could stream audio between the KPA and the PC/MAC using the USB connection. As we use USB for the Rig Manager anyway, it would simplify the setup and also reduce latency because we don't need to use an audio interface.
Audio over USB

Would be awesome. Requested several times. Won't happen.
In Studio maybe some people would prefere to use their Studio-Interface rather than using an Kemper-internal Interface.
But I guess for most of us it would be great to record without any external interface. -
I've never tried stuff like this, but wouldn't it be possible to just use the line in of you regular sound card?
-
Of course.
But often the results are sub optimal, less desirable than a dedicated interface. -
Why that, Ingolf?
We have a digital signal in the KPA, transfered over USB into a PC/MAC that also works in the digital domain. I don't see how this could lead to worse results than going to a audio interface via SPDIF, and convert the signal there into a USB or Firewire stream.
-
Does the line in of your regular sound card accept a digital signal? I don't think so. I was referring to Michael DK's post.
-
Ups, sorry, I thought you were answering to my opening post
-
Of course.
But often the results are sub optimal, less desirable than a dedicated interface.Yeah, I know. But I was thinking that maybe someone without a dedicated interface maybe don't work with recording at a level where it matters much. Of course, I don't know exactly HOW detrimental it would be to the audio. It might not be feasible. Still, worth a try, maybe.

Yes, Firebird, I should quote better.

I think Ingolf was referring to using the line in on a soundcard, and those tend to be fairly low-quality and not set up for low latency.
CK has said in the past that most people wanting to record already have an interface, and so (I think) he'd rather not use up processing power in the Kemper.
Edit: Wow, you guys are quick.

Christoph says he assumes we all own a more appropriate audio interface and that it's a hassle to use multiple audio interfaces. Nevermind that USB audio has consistently been in the top 3 or 4 most requested features, and I've never had problems switching back and forth between my RP355 and Firestudio Mobile. Oh well, life is full of disappointment.
