I have had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to set up my Ground Control Pro with the Kemper
Really? I find the GPC a real breeze to set up (way easier than the FCB for example), and use it regularly - but the key is to use it in Browse mode. This makes it extremely simple.
The midi numbers are shifted off by one number (a weird programming glitch if you ask me), so slot 1 is actually assigned to midi number 2 in your rig, slot 2 is assigned to midi 3, etc... Slot 10 and all multiples of 10 are a bit weird. Assign these to midi numbers 1 (+10); so slot 10 is actually assigned to midi 1, slot 20 - assign to midi 11, slot 30 - assign to 21...
I hope that clears things up a bit for you. It's easy once you get the hang of it, though I AM looking forward to the Kemper Remote when it ships.

Some devices use 0-127 to change programs, some use 1-128
That is a fundamental part of the MIDI Standard that was never a single standard.

The MIDI standard denotes them as 1 to 128, like here: http://www.midi.org/techspecs/gm1sound.php
The Profiler denotes program changes in the same way. Though, some manufactures don't use the official nomenclature but the raw byte representation. -

You can change this behavior on the GCP, have it start at 0 or 1. It works fine for me.

I am right there with you on this. I have had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to set up my Ground Control Pro with the Kemper and have given up as I have no gigs scheduled as of right now.
I am all about ease of implementation. I am a husband, father of 2 teenagers, a salaried employee (lots of work hours) and now gigging semi-regularly. My free time is at a premium so for me, the price is worth it to know I can plug and play whenever I want.
I am sure the GCP might be fairly easy to program once I get the hang of it but I got very frustrated very quickly.
Additionally, I love the idea of not having to have ANY power source attached to my board. Since the remote shows the full tuner display I can leave that and my VooDoo Lab ISO-5 at home.
Not sure if you still use the GCP, I could help you set it up. You can also use just a midi cable (single cable) to power the GCP, if you have the GCX. Plus you can also control your old stomp boxes too!

I put up a video with the remote somewhere in this forum
