I have been going FOH for 2 years now and somewhat miss having a cab on stage. Any recommendations for a FRFR speaker for a cab?

I have a Xitone wedge and it sounds great. Close enough to my monitors that I can dial in a tone and know that it will sound alright in a recording, but there's still enough "oomph" to feel like a guitar cab.
I'd not advise to put linear stuff into a cab in order to make it "more linear". The box plays a critical role and it has to be tuned and designed for the loudspeakers.
Furthermore, there's no loudspeaker that can be reasonably flat by itself, you'll need a 2-way loudspeaker system and a crossover for that.
Better to buy an already-made cab

+1. The only exception would be the DIY kit from kemper-solutions (which is built for a pre-defined Palmer cab).
Yep, there must be a design at any rate

The camper kit works really well - because of the wider frequency range you can get it to sound like a specific guitar speaker. For instance, I could never get an AC30 to sound just right via a cab with Vintage 30's or GT12/75's. Easy now to sound like Celestion Blues
I was just thinking along these same lines. I have a Hughes & Ketner 10" guitar cabinet that weight 14.5 pounds with the speaker and 11 pounds without. I was thinking about sticking a FR Eminence Beta-10CX 10" Coaxial Driver that weights 7.3 pounds to have the whole thing come in at under 19 pounds. I assume you guys are saying that this will NOT sound like a FR speaker?
It might, but it likely won't. The cab design is part of the process of making the whole system flat.
As a side note, there's a difference between "FR" and "FRFR"
