I have used the stomp compressor and I don't like the way it is set up. I am used to attack/release etc so I find the KPA stomp compressor hard to tweak because I don't really know what I'm doing with the values.
Mathias, have you studied the parameters described in the manual? I understand that they are a bit unusual (not a big user of compressors before owning the Profiler).
Anyway, +1 for adding more parameters to the stomp
Display MoreHere is another kemper forum thread by ECma7 with comp settings to replicate Koji and Xotic compressors.
Kemper Compressor tip
quote:
"Kemper Compressor tip
Recently I fell in love with the Suhr Koji Comp.
One thing that sets is apart from most compressors is the blend knob and voice (eq).
After playing around with the Kemper comp I was able to pretty much match the Koji comp by using the mix and an EQ after the comp.
I like to hit the comp hard intensity: 5 - 7 attack: 2.8 squash: 5
Then use the mix to taste, i use from %50-%65
Boost the upper mids on the eq after the comp...
The key is using the mix control.
Great for clean sounds and in front of an overdrive too
et voila! Koji Comp or Xotic Comp cloned
Is it as good.... pretty dam close.
Still I'm keeping the Koji, it has great mojo.

Just an update.. Sold the Koji Comp
don't need it anymore."
Thank you for this tips - the post compressor sounds better for me then the amp and pre amp compression.

I suppose I could resort to the manual but I like to just mess around with things.
How can you expect the KPA to sound the way you want without reading the manual? The Kemper is no toy or a single channel amp with 5 knobs...

The same way I taught myself to play guitar without instructions, I just figure it out. Granted there are probably some helpful things I can learn from the manual, its just a matter of actual reading it. Also I haven't had a hard time figuring out how to run other modeling amps (Johnson Millennium, POD X3 Pro, POD HD Pro). I am also a recording engineer and PC technician so I am fairly technically inclined.

That's all good and well -
until you get stuck not knowing how it works, and then you read the manual. That's sort of the point.

And that may well be where we're at! Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.
Yep, nothing bad in learning by experience! I guess the point of this last part of the thread is in your (and I am freely interpreting your last posts) "I don't like how it sounds because I don't get how the controls work".

If you read it again I didn't say I didn't like the way it sounds. I said I don't like the way it is set up.
As I said, it was an interpretation! IIGYR you also "don't get" how it is actually set up, am I wrong?
Not that I care of course, it's just for chatting's sake
