That sounds great. I got the heavy pack also. When I first tried them it didn't sound to great. I used my Cavin with AT1 pickups. I guess I should try my le paul.

Bought it this morning and was quite disappointing. Sounds very muffled like under a blanket, no screaming lead sounds like I'd expect from a dual recto.

My standard M.O. when using Michael's Profiles is to cut the bass in the EQ stack by 2 full points.

Brings it to life if it feels dull / bass-heavy / "muffled", as you put it.

Granted I only had 20mins or so before work to mess around with the settings, I did get the Mesa 8 profile sounding OK-ish. Will try cutting the bass as you suggested though. I get the Reampzone dual recto off the rig exchange and it sounded great so might go for them but I've committed to buy no more than 1 profile pack a month so my Kemper doesn't end up like my Steam account - full of untouched items!

It's interesting that the effect of the 2-integer (not 0.x but x.0) cut results in much more than just a reduction in bass from the listener's standpoint. The overall impression is transformed to one of not being muddy at all, but the integrity / vital character of Michael's work isn't compromised, IMHO.

Look forward to seeing what this simple measure does for you as it always works for me with Michael's Profiles.

You may also increase the definition of the amp a little and it may work. Britt profiles with P90s a lot, I think, and some rigs sound a bit dull with humbuckers and ok with SCs. I find some rigs, not all certainly, by Britt and TAF a bit muddy with L Pauls. A hi pass filter or some bass filtering. as Monkey Man has advised, may be necessary.

Thanks for the tips regarding muffled-ness. Britt profiles are wonderfully dynamic but I too find them pretty muffled, along with TAF and top jimi for that matter. Seems to be a common sound that they each have for their profiles. Do you know if those guys add any eq or preprocessing before profiling?

Had a small window this morning to mess around with the settings. Reducing the bass actually seems to muffle the tone even more. I found a sweet spot at around +2. Middle and Treble are up in the +3/4 region and amp definition up to 7-ish. Any more on the definition and it does come out clearer but the gain starts to fizz like a bitch especially when palm muting.

Definitely getting better sounds anyway. More tweaking to be done!
