Issues with profiling a non master Plexi

That is a seriously nice amp collection

  • Wow :) you've got lots of love for the marshall !

I hope you'll take as many direct profiles as possible ! if you ever merge them with you own cab profile the result might be really surprising in terms of 'lifeness', and may also solve the cleaning issue

But I guess the studio profiles are great with all the signal chain & speaker options you described

Yeah, I love Marshalls, but I also love high gain amps! I trying to experiment while working in my studio which is what I do for a living. Once I'm happy with the profiles, I'll post them and hopefully some people will like them. I love Scumback speakers and I don't see may of them here.

  • Those clips sound fantastic.... I can tell where this thread is going already....haha!

Thanks! I used the Metropoulus 68' 12,000 series that Dave Friedman modded to sound like the Metro/Friedman Plexi which is no longer made. It has a built in variac that drops the volts down to 90v, but I used a voltage regulator to drop the amp down to 80 volts. It sounds close to VH but not perfect. I'm trying to profile that tone into the Kemper. I think the tone is close to VH2 or Women and Children First.

Thanks, kept buying and selling amps for a long time! Now I wish I would've kept them to profile them! But I kept the ones that I used the most. I like them all, but my favorite one is the Metro/Friedman and the Suhr PT100.

  • @eljodon Did you ever get round to making all these profiles?

I'm sorry, I haven't I've done some, but I know I can make them better since I'm still learning. I've just been spending a lot of time trying to get the Kemper to work with my Axe Fx 2 which I'm using for effects with the MFC101 as a MIDI controller. I just can't figure out how to send CC# and PC# to the Kemper so I can switch between amps within one patch. I got it to work to switch programs, but I need to be able to change amps because I usually use 2 amps per patch one for clean and the other one for dirt and lead. I also want to be able to increase the gain on the amp for my lead patch. Axe Fx 2 does that very well, were you have Scenes which I use 4 to 5 per song. I'm going nuts trying to find info, but none it has been helpful!!

  • No need to apologise dude. Have you tried asking in the forum someone may be able to help with the midi?

Yes, I have, but nobody seems to know or want share their secrets! LOL! It's kind of sucks not being able to have more control over the Kemper like changing the gain of the amp in between scenes, turn off or on the pedals in the Kemper, using the Wah which is better than the Fractal, etc. I rely heavily on changing the gain between scenes and I would like to be able to change amps for clean tones in the Kemper. I looked every where and so far I haven't found the info that I need. I'm sure I'll eventually figure it out, but with my time limitations, it's difficult.

  • My guess is, you cannot change just the Amplifier, within a Rig, via MIDI. You *can* change the entire rig with CC# or with PC#.

    Kemper MIDI Parameter Documentation Manual:

Thank you for your response. I'm aware of this, I would be happy to just have the ability to turn on or off a pedal. I change rigs with PC# but only while changing patches on the Axe-Fx. I read the MFC 101 manual many times and it states that you can send CC# and PC# via foot switch, but it's only sending PC# via the program change foot switch but not with the scene foot switch while in Axe-Fx mode. You can change it to MIDI mode which might work, but then I loose many cool parameter changes that I use with the effects that I have programmed into the Axe Fx 2. In the manual, it says that it will send CC# while also sending a different CC# to the Axe FX while pressing one footswitch. I'll have to use a MIDI monitor software to see what the MFC101 is actually sending .

  • I finally got to upload a ton of profiles using most of my amp collection. You can find it under George Alayon. The amps that I profiled are:
Metro/Friedman 68 Plexi( at different voltages
68/69 Scumback Plexi( only a few in existence) Friedman BE100 Suhr PT100 Mesa Boogie Recto 70's Marshall JMP 100 watt Keep in mind that I just got the Kemper amp not the long, so I would love to hear your opinion and see if you like them. I used my Chandler Limited TG2 through SSL stuff micing a 4 x 12 custom made Marshall 1960B made by Jim from Scumback Speakers loaded with BH75,M75,H75 and Celestion V30s. The Plexis are cranked to 10 using a Fryette Power Station at various voltage settings. I hope you guys like it!

Thank you! I suggest posting this information in the "Free Rigs" forum.

Ok, I tried to do it but I didn't see a new thread button. Please let me know what you think so I can improve them. Thank you!

  • I just registered but it still won't let me post. Perhaps I have to wait! I uploaded a lot of profiles! I like the way they sound better than the ones I purchased, but I guess it's a matter of opinion!
