so I bought the kemper power head and I'm ridiculously impressed with it but I feel like the cabs I'm using are messing with the sound. It feels muddy and there's alot of bass. I'm using yamaha br10's. I've been trying to find out what are some good passive cabs but I keep seeing everyone suggesting to still get the powered cabs. So what I'm thinking about doing is exchanging for a non powered head and getting active speakers. Since I don't really play live and I'll just be in my room would that be a recommended set up? I see everyone recommends the yamaha dxr10 and since I'm spending alot of money regardless I'm thinking about getting those but I'm also curious about the jbl and electro voices. I know there's a ton of speaker threads on here so I'm sorry for another one but any help would be much appreciated!
Advice please!

I can only repeat my love for the Yamaha DXR 10.
Or go Atomic CLR for even more linearity. -
thank you for the reply! How is it at bedroom volumes? Granted, this is my first kemper but I know I'm not getting the most out of the sound. Mine sounds really muddy and digital and I know it's because of the speakers.

Both my units are fine at bedroom levels, although a few people have complained about noticeable hiss.

Is the DXR suitable for bass in your opinion?
-
The deepest it goes is 55 Hz so the answer is yes, but it's not optimal for Bass.

There are a lot of options for passive speakers, including studio monitors. You should be able to find something that gives you the sound you want. I would also get a sub of some kind of you want a fuller bass sound. No need to change your Kemper out. Plus you could still get powered speaker or studio monitors and just use the main outs and not the powered out.
If you have music stores near you, bring your Kemper in and try some before you buy them.

the yamaha br10s I have soooo much bass and are muddyI did more research and I found out br stands for bass response haha. Do you know any good passive speakers off the top of your head?

actually I have another question I did the kemper update and now the tuner has a weird digital box in front of it that won't go away. Anyone else had a problem like that before?

I'd recommend active studio monitors.

can you post a pic of this?
thanks -
Hey don, thank you for the reply. I can post a pic when I get home. The best way I can describe it is its a box like when the update was happening and when I did the update it was on the tuner channel so that may have been why it is now stuck there? I'm not sure.

What would the best solution be for almost the same price? I read good things about Alto TS210, too, and it's cheaper.
