Hello.
I tried the TC Mimiq with my Kemper.
Recorded a small file:
00:00 - 00:22 is without the Mimiq
00:23 - 00:48 Mimiq with Dubs 1
00:49 - 01:16 Mimiq with Dubs 2
What do you think about the combination of this two devices?
Hello.
I tried the TC Mimiq with my Kemper.
Recorded a small file:
00:00 - 00:22 is without the Mimiq
00:23 - 00:48 Mimiq with Dubs 1
00:49 - 01:16 Mimiq with Dubs 2
What do you think about the combination of this two devices?
Sounds phasey in mono through my iPhone.
I think you need stereo?
2 Boxes (left and right)
Hi
where did you place the Mimiq in the signal chain?
and could you do a real double tracking for comparsion?
Cheerz
On my headphones it is quite stereo, although it sounds like it is moving from left to right. But because the unit is modulating this should be normal if laid in stereo like that.
I would be interested too in a recording of 2 real guitars (one left one right) and then "effect" them..
I made a new recording.
You'll find the complete record here:
00:00 - 00:22 is without the Mimiq, no doupling
00:23 - 00:46 real doupled, 2 guitars, one left, one right
00:46 - 01:13 Mimiq with Dubs 1
01:14 - 01:41 Mimiq with Dubs 2
Signal chain: see files attached
In the Kemper: Stereo Loop in the "Effects" section on the X position. (100% Mix)
Sounds pretty good. This tool seems to work. At least in stereo.
I'm not sure about phases!?!
sounds really good in stereo and very close to real double tracking..but when i switch my monitorcontroller to mono i hear a bit phasing
Then there is the question what to do against this phasing?
Maybe different setting for tightness knob could help..so less tightness
I will try.
If I only play the Mimiq stereo on stage, that should not be a problem?
no i dont think so..but make sure the FOH guy really pans both channels left and right
I was actually considering this, but if there's phase issues then it's no different than using a standard delay on one side of the stereo field, a regular delay can sound good in stereo also, too bad!
Is there anything else I could do to avoid phasing?
(I know leave the Mimiq. )
I think with a certain tightness some phasing will be unavoidable. It's the nature of the game.
thats true....a friend of mine plays so insane tight..it happend once that 2 tracks panned left/right went to mono
I think with a certain tightness some phasing will be unavoidable. It's the nature of the game.
So less tightness is better sound?
I've just made a similar comparison with the Strymon Deco Doubletracker. I used the "BM Sold 99 Cases Dist 2"-profile (stock) without reverb.
Part 1: Single Track - Part 2: Deco Doubletracker - Part 3: Real Doubletracking
Cheers,
Stefan
I just received my mimiq doubler and did a quick test. Don´t like it with 2 or 3 dubs but with 1 dub it seems very usable. Indeed it causes some phasing which seems to get worse the tighter you set it. However at max "untightness" it is also unusable because... well it´s not tight enough :-). At setting beetween 12:00 and 3:00 it seems to do a good job. I would always prefer real double tracking in a recording situation, but if you are the only guitar player in your band this seems a great tool when playing live. In fact i would say it´s the best artificial double tracking i heard yet.
Here´s a quick demo... soundcloud compression is horrible as always but you will get an idea...
