I think it's weird as well ,however since I work with performances it makes sense to push the "first" button to go to the next performance ...

For me, buttons to increase and decrease on a horizontal axis are natural for right button up and left button down. Just like reading I guess, left to right for forward, right to left backwards. Maybe it's a caveman thing, not sure. I'll have to look at some of their drawings in the caves and decide.
