If the mixer is almost at clipping on your inputs how can it NOT get amplified appropriately by the speakers?
I think the issue is in your setup of the mixing desk.

It must be. I know so many guys who work like this ( and me to). Never had a problem with foh and the main outs of the kpa.
All of this is possible. But how hard can it be..?
- 2 xlr out to 2 xlr in on mixing desk
- main output to -18 dB
- rig volume to 0 dB (12 o'clock setting)
- clean sense 0 dB
- gain settings for incoming signal on mixing desk through pfl for avoiding clipping
- raising faders for increasing volume
- raising master faders for master volume
What is missing in this chain?
Nothing. Can‘t see something wrong. Can‘t help, sorry!
Again, may I kindly reiterate to remove the mixing desk from the equation and go KPA xlr (master outs) to QSC XLR in. We need to narrow down where the problem is originating (KPA, Mixing Desk, or QSC's).
Agree put kemper into powered speakers just for a test.
And btw if it’s working ok monitor out but not mains there’s something going on but I can’t get what from your description at the moment.
Check all output settings comparing monitor out to main out if this is the case. It’s all I can suggest
If You provide the desk with an appropriate level then You have done what You can. If there is lack of volume in Your monitors or to the FOH it's an issue from the desk to the amps/speakers.

As expected, directly connecting the xlr cables from main outs to powered speakers results in an extremely high volume.

See above. This works fine. I also checked the wiring solding at all ends of the xlr cables. No problems there.

It looks that way. But how come that everyone else stays within 0 dB at the level meters and still sounds louder than me even with an amp under my feet? Even an unpowered mike beats me. In some particular rigs I have to increase the level of that used amp too.
As for the speaker output: this is for UNpowered cabs or monitors. Do not connect powered speakers here! Right? So if I use speaker output for my 2x12 ENGL cab it can go very loud, adjusting with master level in Output section...
Did you already plug into another channel on the desk? Back in my band days we had broken channels on our mixing desk as well...
Good thinking! But all inputs are working fine. It's a pretty new mixing desk and is mostly used at my rehearsal studio.
Well I think you’ve identified the problem is with the desk. Whether it’s settings or input / output issues etc.
When removed from the equation, so kpa —> powered speaker works fine but kpa —> desk —> powered speaker doesn’t.

?. Sorry but this is confusing. Where are we getting upowered cabs or monitors from. I thought you were using KPA > Mixing Desk > QSC powered monitors. Somewhere in the mixing desk > QSC's the level is getting reduced. What is the brand / model of the desk your using. Not that I'm experienced with that, but I'm sure plenty here are. Actually even pics of your connections and desk may help. It's evident that it's not the KPA.
Could you please post pictures of your Kemper, all the cables connected to the Kemper and the mixing desk, ...
So we can exactly see where you connected the cables.
Also post pictures of the concerned system pages and output pages of the Kemper.
I am strongly confused how you handle your Kemper, the cables, the mixing desk,...!

I have a weird theory. It's a long shot.
If you're plugging both Main Outputs into the desk, but:
both channels could be in opposite phase and cancelling each other out.
In any case, since taking the mixing desk out of the equation results in enormous volume (as it should, with the Kemper's full line signal going into 1000W speakers), it's very likely that the problem lies there.

If you're plugging both Main Outputs into the desk, but:
- the two mixer channels you're using are both centered and not panned left and right, and
- for some reason one of the cables is inversely wired,
both channels could be in opposite phase and cancelling each other out.

Wow!!! Good idea!
TO Zapman
I have a Allen & Heath ZED 22 fx. This is a normal analog mixer.

No, both channel;s are panned to left and right. I tried both channels separately this way for the volume
The cables are not out of fase. I guess this is what you mean. They are normal xlr mike cables.
I'm still trying to tackle the problem.
Here are a number of pictures. If more needed, let me know.

Well, I can‘t open one of your pictures.
Maybe you are not really firm concerning technical thinks. It seems like.
Maybe there is a technican or an experienced Kemper user close to you in your area who could
meet you and help you?
Or you should open a support ticket?

I miss the cables going out of the Kemper.
Important to see.
And maybe the switch of the box mic/line on the left side should be switched to line?
And I don‘t see two XLR cables coming from the Kemper and going into the mixing desk, or am I wrong?
