Sounds like a slightly crunched amp plus chorus played with a Tele type guitar...

Thanks docmidnite. I'll try it.

There's a chorus and a wave form in this sound. The original tune is not so distorted as your example and the guitarplayer didn't play this "normal" d minor chord. Funky stuff with triads....
If you want to use your Gibson try pu middle position or neck with a low gain sound.

Could be a rotary effect as well.

could even be a B3-type organ with an overdriven rotary effect layered with the guitar

Is that the audio from a live video Performance? What year? What instrumentation is the band? That info could help you zero in on the FX possibilities.

I think this request is solved for Ray (The Player). I have sent him a rig with this sound:
The first two examples are only a normal d minor chord. This isn't used in Rod's old funky tune. The second two soundsamples are the funky chords.
The original sound is not so gainy as Rays example from a live gig (think it was a top 40 band or an oldie band).External Content soundcloud.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms.
