Stage Profiler changing rigs in multiple slots!

  • BACKGROUND

hi. I’m new to Kemper, having been instructed to switch from Mesa Boogie based rig to something suitable for quick fly in/out festival gigs. I’d gone for IK Amplitube running on M1 MacBook Air with the I/O foot controller because I know the system and liked the sounds but the manager and crew didn’t like the reliability concern of multiple 20’ USB cables, laptop at festivals etc so was given the Kemper and told to have it all programmed before the next show in 2 weeks time. No rehearsal, sound check, no amps, just IEMs.
    IMPORTANT BIT!

Got it working but am now finding that when tweaking and updating the sounds the rig being modified will often save not only to that slot in the current performance but also to a corresponding slot in a different performance! This has been incredibly frustrating and concerning. I’m assuming it must be something I’m doing and not a software bug?
    Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

  • Thanks. I’ve got the input levels locked at 0. When I save, the slot name remains but the content changes in another slot in a different performance to the rig previously edited. How do I check what’s going on?
I’ve a headlining gig in Denmark tomorrow 😬

  • thanks for the response. I’m on the rig manager, so I’ll double check the unit is on the same performance and slot when saving. I’m pretty sure it would be as the rig manager appears to recall the slot on the unit when selected, and I always look at where the destination is. I’ll keep you posted!

  • Be aware that the editor in Rig Manager and its Save buttons always refer to the Rig currently loaded in your PROFILER- the sound you hear. This implies, that a PROFILER has to be connected for such editing and saving. And if you intend to edit a Rig in a Slot of a Performance via editor, the PROFILER needs to be in Performance Mode. In Browser Mode it cannot load a Performance. Therefor you can't edit a Rig in a Performance in the editor whle the PROFIELR rests in Browser Mode.

The items displayed and selected in the list area of Rig Manager don't have to be the same as the item currently loaded, edited and saved.

  • imho, if you are new to the unit, try to edit with the kemper without rig manager. i think it is very well layed out, very intuitive and it´s almost impossible to mess something up.

only then i would start using rig manager. it´s very powerful, but also more complex and it´s easy to make a mistake if you´re not very careful and know exactly what you´re doing and 100% familiar with the kemper terminology and their way of doing things.
