Hi i just bought 7m of Vandamme tourcat 5e cable and made the plugs with the ethercon on one end. I measured the new cable aside of the original from kemper and they are of the same length. The problem is that with the original I have a 100% brightness instead with the vandamme I have less brightness of the leds and also of the screen. Any suggestion?

use of a PoE (power over ethernet) unit is required for most third party cables or of any significant length.
You may well find the diameter of the individual cores is smaller than the factory cable, thus requiring the PoE device. A fatter/wider core carries the power better over longer runs (less resistance)
there may be other users who can recommend a like-for-like replacement that doesnt rely on the PoE device, probably listed in another thread somewhere.

I just googled ‘kemper ethernet cable‘ and it gave a number of solutions. I bought mine on Amazon some time ago and it’s been fine

that’s the thread that I got mine from.

I bought the same cable as said in the thread, but I made the plugs at the end by my self. I tested the cable and is working fine but I get less light on the remote.

your cable is AWG 26 gauge. According to the manual this gauge of cable can only be used for runs of up to 5m without a PoE injector.

just to clarify for anyone unaware, the higher the AWG number the smaller the diameter,
ie
28AWG = 0.8mm
26AWG = 0.14mm
22AWG = 0.34mm
17AWG = 1.0mm
(mm = millimetre square)
