can anyone explain the setup of the micropitch effect

Detune is the same as incremental pitch shift. It is designed with one voice that is shifted up, and one that is shifted down when the detune parameter is increased. It does not have a separate "delay" parameter for the shifted pitches. That feature was requested for all the pitch effects when the public beta was initially released.

If you use a doubling delay, it will sound pretty much the same as if just the shifted notes were delayed ( it will sound a bit bigger, actually)

A doubling delay is a 15ms to 40ms delay. You can adjust any of the Kemper delays for that effect.

Although micropitch does not have a delay parameter, it DOES have delay included in the effect.

As you turn Detune up, it also adds a small stereo delay to the detuned notes.( one note on the left, one one the right. Each has a slightly different delay time.) More Detune also gives you longer delay.

As an experiment, set Mix to 100% - you will hear the two detuned notes. As you turn Detune up, you will hear and feel the delay.

Crossover - this is a High Pass filter. At the lowest setting, the detuned notes sound like the original guitar tone. When you turn it up, the tone of the detuned voices no longer includes frequencies below the knob setting - they are "thinner" sounding than the original note.

What specific Van Halen song? Which part of the song? If it is not a "live" version of the song, you are probably hearing more than one guitar playing the part. An effect can come close to that kind of sound, but the random differences between two separate guitar parts cannot be exactly duplicated by an effect.

Start with detune at "0". Mix at a little less than 50% Ducking = 0 Crossover = the lowest setting

Turn it up the detune until just before it starts to sound like a chorus effect.

If the detuned guitars are too loud or soft, adjust the Mix.

If the "three guitars" sound is muddy, turn up the crossover.

For the solo, add a reverb with a long predelay ( match the amount of delay in the recording)
