For that price you can get 2 QSC KW-152 or 2 RCF NX15 SMA. They are going to be as well a fantastic live monitoring system and, on poles, they can carry the all band on a mid size club. Volume and "thump" wise they are better than a 4x12, IMHO

The Adams are no live monitors but for studio use - completely different kind of speakers IMHO.

Yes, the QSC's are great for live use.

which adams are you using, i assume for your guitar studio they are FRFR?, i have a pair of good powered yamaha monitors in my home studio, but since i got the kemper really want to get my sound as good as it can be, and from what you are saying this could be an improvement, the kemper is pretty much it for my guitar playing now, so i want to get the most out of it

    welcome your thoughts

    thanks

I use the large Adam S4X-V (12" bass)

Armin, have you heard these Behringers yourself? Very good price ...

    Yes, they sound good!

Genelec 1031A is a classic speaker and the Behringer 2031A - is the Behringer way (to copy successful speakers).

If you need some great sounding studio monitors and don't want to spend a few thousand bucks - try the 2031A's.

Hi Armin, What tube power amp do you recommend?

I use the KPA only in my Studios with nearfield / midfiled monitors.
For me is FRFR the only way to use the KPA - since only by this can I use different speaker simulations in a realistic way.

In my keyboard studio do I use the recommended Genelec's and in my guitar studio do I use the Adam's.
I have used some PA speakers before but did not like the sound at all.

In case you like to use the KPA with a real tube amp and guitar speakers - there are a lot of options.
If you like to run stereo this may be some options:

    Marshall EL34 50/50
    Mesa Boogie 2:50

    (I use #6 since #5 was stolen ;) )

Some (like me) LOVE the sound of the KPA - others like it not so much - why?

What kind of guitar amp guy are you?

    Type a)
If you are used to mike your real amps and record it - you'll probable love the KPA!

    Type b)
If you use other modeling amps up to now - you'll probable love the KPA!

    Type c)
If you are used to real tube amps next to you and use a modeler (or the KPA) for the first time - you may not like it.
    It sounds very different!

    How to improve your sound?

    for type a or b:
To get an even better sound - get better speakers - this makes a huge difference for all your profiles.

    for type c:

    Basically you have three options:
    1)
Learn to love the sound of "recorded" amp tones.
    Note:
If you play live via a PA, produce a CD, a video, ... - the audience will NEVER hear your amps tone (only the miked sounds),

    2)
Use profiles of guitar amps only - and use a tube power amp and guitar speaker

    3)
Use profiles created to sound more like the real amp next to you and use large linear speakers.

I myself am more the type c guy - I love tube amps and my KPA sounds very close to then :D

To get a huge sound - some use a lot of delay or reverb - that may work in some cases - but sounds to much processed in a lot of others.

I found that the KPA 'Stereo Widener' (I use it in the X slot) makes some sounds VERY HUGE

I like the KPA with this effect more than the AxeFx with two amps/caps at the same time :D

If the default settings does not work for you - the effect has some parameters to play with ...

Yes, I am still alive ;)

I had a lot of work in the last time (for other projects) - currently am I on holidays - and plan to create new profiles from next week on.
    The next ones will be:
    Koch Studiotone
    Mesa Boogie MK V

    Check out the existing ones:
    Elmwood Modena M60 (22 profiles)
    Marshall JVM 410H (34 profiles)
Mesa Boogie Lonestar Special (28 profiles)
57' Fender Deluxe with Jensen speaker (19 profiles)
Fractal Audio AxeFx II (49 profiles)
Body resonances of various instruments (16 profiles)

The KPA and a great profile via a small computer speaker does not sound this great.

The feel of a real guitar amp speaker is very different because of many reasons - one is speaker size and the amount of air moved by the large speaker.

I was never really happy with small size near field monitors - and did not like the sound of most PA speakers as well.

So what is in (most) guitar cabinets?
    12 inch speaker(s)

Since I use two active monitors with 12" speakers all sounds - and feels - SO much better.

    What is your experence?

1000 profiles may sound like a lot of fun ...

    But:
-Startup is so much faster if only a few profiles installed
-It's fun to try a lot profiles - but a good advice is to delete most of them later
-It's much faster to find a nice profile if only nice profiles are stored in the KPA
-It's much more fun to create and/or modify your own profiles - and optimize your set of maybe 50 profiles
-I ask myself is my main goal to collect profiles or to play the guitar
-Who the hell needs 1000 profiles :D:P

I used to spend a lot of time in this (and other) forums after I got my KPA - there where so many bugs and a lot of ideas to exchange ....

... but now - I just play that thing - and did not buy any new guitar gear at all ;)

Hope to create some new profiles in the next time too ...

OT - but I just read your sig

"If you want your bank balance to stay the same don't play a KPA."

Can confirm - sold the AxeFX II and VB101 - bought the KPA - better sound and more money :D

    Yes, got the same experience.
After a few minutes with the KPA at home I was sure this is a keeper.

Then I tried to find out all the advantages of the AxeFX II - there are some - but after a few days I put the AxeFx to eBay - and got 50Euro more than I paid :)

Still love the KPA - I wanted to play some 'plexi' patch this morning (for a few minutes) - at 13:00 I fond myself still playing and decided to stop ;)
