I've got the same problem...
I think the vid (and the other one with Gilmourish sounds) is excellent (MORE PLEASE!!) - I just wouldn't have thought of setting the parameters that way..

Mute the strings with your left hand.
Raise your right hand above the strings, and turn your wrist, so the pick is not parallel to the strings.
Scrape the side edge of your pick along the top of the low E string. Each time, move a little farther away from the bridge, and more toward the neck. Try using up strokes, toward the neck.
After you reach the neck with your picking hand, you also can slide your left hand down toward the headstock (with the strings still muted) for the lower sounds.
If you try this with any high gain sound, you will hear it happen.
BTW - The VH profiles you have posted to will do it, too. Thanks again for posting those

Since the basic profile was done by And44, just drop him a PN. Usually Andy used vintage Marshall 1960 cabs with greenbacks (25 or 30 watt). He has a 1987 Marshall profile in his commercial packs and there the tags say "pre-rola Greenbacks". Maby it's the same cab but that would mean you'd be searching for a mid/late 60s Marshall 4x12". Not really a budget solution I think

Thanks - that's a relief! Basically, I don't get the hype of the Gundy Keller Tweaks - to me, most of his tweaks are dramatically overprocessed. Take the Gilmour tweak as an example - there's nothing left for your fingers to do some job on the sound.

It does. Armin's Plexi HW gets you there too as does some of Pete's profiles.

I downloaded the 67 Plexi from rig exchange today, this is a really good profile and certainly in my opinion a good starting point to some early Van Halen sound 
For another EVH attemt, try the Lead Booster in front of you amp, and tune it to your liking.
No doubt- his early tone had a lot of presence & high mids. I've been playin 35 years, have a broken neck and back- all I can say is thank you for the KPA & allowing me to gig without carrying my amps Mr. kemper!
