Profiling through sound card?

Is it coming to make good profiles through a computer sound card, if you do not own an analogue mixer for multiple mics? I could imagine using the S/PDIF out from the sound card to the Kemper, to avoid double converting.

Ofcourse you get the AD converting going on in the sound card instead of the Kemper.. I own an RME fire face UC. I use API preamps in 500 series rack format.

Are there any disadvantages doing it this way, instead of a regular analogue mixer doing the summoning?

I do this to mix multiple mics, it's a good way for me, since I can also use the nice EQ plugins I'm used to, just like one would on an analog channel strip.

So in reality, you can also just profile already recorded guitars from former projects.

Nope. You need an amp or an amp sim to send the Profiler's crazy UFO noises through - if your project was recorded with direct guitars, and you then ran them through a chain of plugins to get your tone, you can profile that chain, but you can't do anything if the actual tone is already "printed".
