New FactalAudio floorboard

-
Seams to be just effects ...
KPA amps/cabs and AxeFx effects maybe a nice solution - and no need for another floorboard to control the KPA.
-
Looks like they want to compete with the Line 6 Pod HD market.
-
I like the design.
-
This looks great. If I ever go back to a tube amp, this would be a perfect solution!
I wonder how much $?

Nope, the new Fractal effects floorboard (FEF?) doesn't have any amp/cab modeling. Effects only.
-----------------------------------------------------------
It looks like a very nice, well-built unit. Might be a great companion for the KPA, depending on price of course.
-
I'm curious about this unit paired with the Kemper too. Could be the best of both worlds.
-
It's about time someone came out with a competitor to the G-System. That thing is so old, clunky, and expensive....

I'm going to guess $1200

I'm reading it to be a multi-effects with programmable scenes, but, not a MIDI controller.
Two people have asked if it transmits MIDI PC or CC, but not gotten an answer.
On the other hand, someone asked if it received MIDI - that question was answered with a "yes".
-
That would be stupied - in this case we would need a floorboard for the floorboard
-
It would be pretty silly of them to not include MIDI out.

Why? The unit might be able to control itself regardless its MIDI output capabilities -
I think it is designed for someone with a multichannel tube amp (like Mesa Boogie or Marshall), who wants very good effects and control of the amp channels, not for someone who wants to use it as a MIDI controller.
It has relays to control the amp channels - so, when a Scene is recalled, pre- and post- effects are loaded, in series and/or parallel, and the amp channel is activated.
It looks like a really well designed product for people who want to use their regular amps.

With Midi features it would be great for a tube amp and the KPA = add a lot of effects AND control the channel switching.
(Can't think of using this FX8 AND another controller for the KPA at the same time). -

But from a business POV I don't see it coming.
Who would buy the MFC then? But let's see if Cliff comes up with more specs. This should be a very successful thing.
-
It would be silly because there are "few" amps – especially in higher price range – that can be controlled via midi.
And ... it could have a basic midi implementation (send only on 1-3 different midi channels, CC fixed to the switches / as Midi Mate ), and it have less switches as MFC, so no competition to MFC. -

When you design a device (and a business model) you have to make choices which concur to determine its price, its placement, its perception by potential users. Rarely a "one fits them all" device sees the light, and for a number of reasons ...
-
We'll see as soon as the manual will be out ....
Since it's all software it should be easy to implement some basic Midi features - if the device has any Midi out's.
Yes, you are right . it's a great effect unit anyway - but would be a killer for the KPA (with Midi out).
