I've been a Kemper owner for a little over 2 months now, & I am having issues with sound. This problem has become more apparent since I purchased Andy's AC30 & Z Wreck packs. I am getting what sounds like double notes on all breakup, cranked & full rigs on these packs, & none of them are even remotely usable. It also sounds as if my guitar (Strat with Dimarzio Area 58/61s) is going through a cheap compressor pedal as the sound is clipped & horrible. I noticed when I first got it that on almost all rigs I can't use the neck or middle pickups as they sound clipped & muffled. I have tried another guitar (PRS) and it's the same. Anyone any ideas, it's driving me mad.

Cable?
Can you put it on soundcloud? -
Yea - put some simple samples over the sound-cloud - because I don't quite understand whats is wrong.
-
I've tried different cables, still the same. I'll put something up on Soundcloud Tomorrow.
-
does it sound like that through headphones? generally how are you listening/monitoring?
-
Post a clip is defo the way to go so we can hear what your describing. This will give us more of an idea of what your heating and I'm sure one of us on hear can help you out

Maybe try to fool around with the Clean Sense setting
-
I Have recorded a short simple clip to illustrate the sound that I am getting. The clean sense is -2.5, distortion sense is 0.0, guitar is on full, profile is Andy's Z Wreck. I have tried all sorts of settings on the clean & distortion senses to no avail. Have also tried 3 different firmwares & a reset, but the problem seems to be getting worse.http://soundcloud.com/david-belsey/kemper-poor-sound

yes i can hear it. havent got a clue whats causing it if it isnt something to do with reverb/delay or other fx being involved. or something to do with how you have the outputs set up on the Kemper.
-
Well I can defo hear something funny going on. Sounds like a chorus, 12 string kind of effect happening when you play, I take it no stomps, or effects are active when you done that clip. Have you checked to make sure you haven't got the space effect active and turned up quite high on the outputs.

Disable your noise gate.
-
Almost sounds like bad fret buzz, doesn't it?
-
No effects whatsoever (just a touch of reverb) & no noise gate. Space is off. Not fret buzz, guitar action is on the high side - I use 10-46 strings & have no fret buzz at all.
-
I would contact support then and send them a back up of your KPA along with this clip so they know what their listen for. I'm sure they will be able to help you
-
I think I will contact support. Other rigs that were O.K before are the same now too. Thanks for your help & suggestions guys.
Cheers

Reset the kemper
-
I have already tried a reset.
-
Ok
I see that the reverb is "on".
And with the "effects off", it s the same? And the "parallele path" and "phase sync" are "off"?
-
OK I just listened to your sample again.
Can you test to see whether this sound persists through a real amp or other solution than the Kemper?
To me it sounds like pickup warble. This occurs under two conditions
a) Your pickup poles are too close to the strings. Simply lower the pickup away from your strings.
b) Your strings are getting too old and oxidizing. The solution is to replace the strings. If you still have that warble when working with a real amp or alternative input (it will be most noticeable with some gain/compression as in your clip), then the problem is one of the above. Otherwise it's time to get in contact with tech support to maybe have the Kemper shipped back for some fixing.

The pickups are as low as they can realistically go. Strings are new. Have tried it through a real amp and it's fine.
