I don't need to switch amps and banks but I would like to be able to switch 1 or 2 effects on/off. Is there something cheaper available that'll work? Maybe smaller too.
Any alternatives to the Kemper footswitch?

I think most midi controllers will change rigs but not all will send the right midi messages for stomps. Midi mouse or midi moose by sansamp will change rigs for you I understand and is small and cheaper.

Thanks, that'd be great if it could change stomps but I suppose I could live with it just changing rigs so I'd make several consecutive/parallel rigs with the various effects on that I want.

what about this? Will it work going into the kemper's usb port?

No USB controllers will work. They must be 5 pin MIDI.
Behringer fcb1010 has many fans. Ground Control Pro, too.

thanks, can GCP toggle stomps?
-
If you program a performance as one amp, with five different effect combinations on, you don't need to switch FX on and off. A simple MIDI program switching pedal would be enough. Even old ones like the ART X-11, Rolls MIDI buddy, etc.

GCP can toggle stomps with programming. There are some current users who have posted about set up. Try doing a forum search for some the ads with good info.

If you're just looking for something small to toggle some effects on and off, maybe the Behringer AB200 would work for you.

I could be wrong but i think this is an A/B switch for multiamp/multi guitar set ups. it just routes between the ins and outs. I don't think you can use it as a switch. Like I said I could be wrong but it's worth checking.

you just connect to Pedal 1 or 2 on the Kemper and set what they control under the System menu. It's described in Page 31/32 of the Deeper View Reference Manual under "Direct Connection of Pedals and Switches".

I know how the Kemper works, it the Behringer A/B switch that I was questioning, especially now I have had a quick look at the manual for it.

Been a while since I used them, but I just hooked it up to see if anything had changed. Works fine.
Using the AB200 and a TRS to dual mono cable. Both AB200 switches set for non-latching.
TRS to Kemper pedal 1 or 2 jack, Ring to B1 jack on the AB200, Tip to A2 jack on the AB200.
Kemper System/Pedal menu. Set to Switch stereo controlling Stomp A/B (for example). The two switches now toggle stomp A and B on and off.
I used two with the first set to control A and B, the second to control C and D, although you can set them to control just about anything.

I use a Vox Tone Lab Se, I can change patches, turn off effect slots, have two expression pedals for wah, volume or modulation. This unit is not small but it is made well.
I have seen others also use a Pod HD 500.
look for these used

That's great news, good to know thanks.

Not sure exactly what youre hoping for switch wise but the behringer fcb1010 is pretty inexpensive relatively speaking but does way more than you have mentioned. add a uno 4 kemper chip and have a plug n play full controller. about 150 $ new for board and 30-40 for an upgrade chip.
also there is a sticky of the footcontroller adaptations for kemper

Looking for something smaller than the FCB. The issue is that i'm using a few outboard effects so having such a big controller board is somewhat of a liability.

based on this and your original qoute Im pretty sure you can use momentary stomp switches of about any variety through the jacks on the back when set up correctly in the kemper and the right ts or trs cabling. I believe you can get at least 3 on off slots this way. perhaps someone with more experience and knowledge than I can elaborate. -
