Sorry, I'm a plug and play type guy but really need to know what the fuss is all about.
Thanks

I'd plug/click on the kemper's official announcement and play/read it!
the rest is personal experience: i've read so many different impressions that listing them again here won't make you any good. Just MVHO of curse!

This. Everybody has an opinion about PureCab but none is more valid than yours.
It's filtering that attempts to smooth out certain frequencies to make a miked cab sound more like an unmiked cab.
As Viabcroce says ....Check it , fiddle with it and see if ya like it ....If ya do then use it and if not don't .....Easy Peasy really

It removes high frequency phasing from close mic'ing as well as some other adjustments to create a more amp in the room sound. I find it works quite well through a frfr monitor, but i find theres some artifacts in the high end through headphones, and you lose a bit of tightness in some high gain tones.

Plug in, play, listen and decide if you like it or not.
It definitely does something to the phasing, because I can now easily get the controlled feedback that I struggled with before. But for me it works. Just give it a try
Thats interesting and makes a good case to allow different pure cab settings per output. So you could feed a monitor with pure cab to get good in the room feedback while sending spdif to daw without pure cab for recording where you might want that specific mic tone
It seems Eng. Kemper finds this a bit too much...
would be interesting tho
