Not familiar with locking effects. Just got the Kemper a few days ago.

Just hold the button of the FX you wanna lock, then hit "lock" button. You're going to see a "padlock" icon after that.
To unlock, while holding the "lock" button, hit the FX you want to be unlocked.

You can follow the same procedure you used for locking it
IOW, when a block has the focus, the Lock button can work repeatedly.

I can't try it myself right now, but I thought that lock is working globally want not only in one performance.
However, I'd appreciate a lock per performance.

you could select the EFFECTS section, copy it and paste it into the other rigs in this performance (don't forget to save)

Yes. The locking is for all Performances at once.
A lock per performance would be a great option.
