When you guys say it won't work as a generic controller you mean it will lack MIDI ports?
Do we have hints that this will be the case?

Exactly this, and I don't think this premise by CK has changed over time.
Do you guys mean this?
QuoteThe pedal is proprietary for the KPA
Uh, I was not aware that means this
In my English I interpreted the sentence as "designed on purpose", not as "it will work exclusively with".
I'm with Ingolf on that one... it's definitely not a specific statement, but I would read that sentence as "This controller is meant specifically for plugging into your KPA". The Kemper already has MIDI connectors, so it would be a little redundant to put them on the controller anyway.

There is also this: "No power or midi connections on board"
Which means that you will not be able to control other midi devices directly from the KFC. The only way will be thru the KPA midi out. For me It is what we can call a KPA dedicated foot controler don't you think?
For us, KPA users, it is just fine, but if you sell your KPA the KFC will be useless.
You're right, of course... I read too quickly
Mhhh... Wondering how much they saved with this... They could have sold some more units by making it "MIDI-compliant"
Not necessarily. You would use the foot controller to control the KPA, which should be able to send corresponding midi commands, through the midi out, possibly even thru, into a second device. The Roland FC 300, together with the VG99, does this, using the proprietary RRC2 connector to the VG, then midi out to whatever.

Yes, but the KFC will most probably need the KPA to midi control anything else, it will act as a midi controller only when hooked up to a KPA. As I said it's fine as long as you own and use a KPA in your rig.

I was wondering the same. I suppose they've done math thought.
Anyhow I will buy the KFC for sure because my KPA is here to stay!

Me too. I have nothing against the unit being proprietary. Make it lean and mean!
That is a shame, I hadn't spotted that statement, but it does indeed seem like it will not work as a standalone midi controller. Bawls. I'd probably grab one anyway, but it's a limiting factor.
Yeah, I'm with Pick on this: they're gonna miss the potential customers who also use other stuff independently from the Profiler, for example, and prefer to not invest in two boards.
Here's where the hypothesis of a looper comes in to potentially make the KFC a very special device and justify its purchase
From what anyone knows about the KFC/hardware in general, does anyone forsee a problem with this setup?
KFC into KPA. Midi from laptop into KPA also switching KPA.
I'm hoping this will work. I'd really like to replace our FCB1010s.

I don't have any knowledge about the KFC in general, but switching via midi and a CAT5/6 line at the same time should be no problem.
Larger
Smaller one for me, going to have expression pedals beside it.
So here is the latest news about the KFC from the "Kemper Profiler Tour 2014" event in Oslo
Price ?
Price ?
Did not say anything about it.
For the record he used a fcb1010 eureka prom on the demonstration.
HOURRRRRRAAAAAAA !!!!
We win.
