Tonights continuation down the road of punk, this time more towards poppier later 70's and early 80's NY punk.

  • Bang-on brother; well done mate.

You can hear elements of the early Police I reckon, which makes sense 'cause they wanted to create a more-digestible version of punk back in the late '70s. Outlandos d'Amour was the result. Things got poppier after that of course.

  • Thanks Monkey_Man I think it was an interesting time musically. You started to get bands like Talking Heads and Blondie splitting off from the CBGBs crew and going for commercial success, taking on that pop vibe with their “disco” record, then others doubling down on the grime like Patti, Iggy and the Ramones though they did attempt to get somewhere by being kidnapped by Phil Spector. It was a melding pot and Malcolm dragged a lot of it back to the UK where it got merged with the reggae and dub scenes. They all had this very stiff cadence though which was interesting, some brit bands like XTC kept that well into the more poppy years.

  • Brilliant Per, that would have been a hit back then! Or can be nowadays when the next retro wave kicks in. As usual the vocals would make it most complete. Anyway, very well balanced mix and nice elements in it. Cool thing :thumbup:8)
