The work-horse that should not be…

This is my first REAL guitar. Well part of it anyway. I actually got the Strat new when it came out and it served me so well for so many years. I decided to use the neck & body for different projects. I’m thrilled with how both came out. I play this constantly!

Be warned: This tends to get some very polarized reactions so I’m interested in what this community has to say.

-‘98 MiM neck w/ locking tuners & LRS nut.

-ESSEX (widely known as SX but this came from before they shortened the name) LP copy.

-Vintage DiMarzio Super Distortion pulled from an old Antares B.C. Rich copy. 59’ clone salvaged from a haggard Dean Dime-o-Flame.

*note: The intonation is NOT off. The body was cut and posted for a 25.5” scale. I didn’t massacre the neck joint or anything. The pieces just fit!

You could have sanded down the paint on the back of the Gibson neck and achieve the same thing --- a fast neck!

What you did is sacrilegious.

There is mouth more to this build than just a fast neck!

No regrets and no complaints from anyone that plays it!

Typical lazy parenting.

If you look closely at the headstock, there is a faded "?" after Stratocaster. Even the guitar is confused.

I have that option on other guitars so for now, no plans. But I do get bored sooner or later!

I had thought about it briefly. Actually I was looking at a Schaller LP Tremolo even longer but, the pricing scared me away. I have Floyds and such so this one can stay all TOM.

Well, the SX neck was pretty much garbage. Really flimsy. Wouldn't even hold it's truss setting. You could almost bend the thing by hand waaay too much. So it has gone away.
