    Ash

Ash, did you ever put up a picture of your 9-string guitar? I don't recall seeing it in this thread.

  • We haven't seen his dual-Kemper setup either, AJ.

Hey, I know it's in the living room with your monster-stereo unit, Ash, but show us, man. We want to see this stuff.

Maybe you can strategically place some German brewskis in amongst the Kemper goodness. :D

  • Hi guys, sadly i have not hooked up the second Kemper yet and i run the first one in STEREO with a Mission FRFR Stereo cab, i just need to get my second cab from Mission and ABY switch and ill be ready to report some performances and tricks with both :)

Okay just got 2 new mods done on my Gibson and Fender, plus here is a shot of the 9 string for AJ
This 9 string ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE A GUITAR, its the Cepheus pickups (not emg or bareknuckle) i have no Chug Bass (for me i don't like it) on the 9th string it really does play like a guitar only way i can show you is when i can record some clips, sounds different to the other 9's , not "bassey" or "chug " but still heavy :). Bareknuckle may be the same but i cannot stand that EMG fat chug

I dont know whats wrong with my ipad the pics seems cloudy sorry about that man,.
First USA Strat. Here is the every thing Axe Seymour Duncan;s you can see 2 switches there near the tone and volume pots.
The first one turns on the bridge and neck pick up together, so if i got to switch 2 from the bridge i get all three pick ups.
The second switch will turn the bridge or neck into single coil , the middle just stay as is and is a fat tone for Ska and ambient stuff.
Really happy with the sound man, i can still get the single coil Strat tone don't panic :)

    Second
My Gibson does not stay in tune, its a Standard USA Model , i got the earvana nut installed to help
Have just started playing it will report if it makes a difference

Made in Korea with Cepheus pickups

Next time ill take the photos on my ipod, seems like a better camera sorry for the shitty Blurs tried a few times :)
AJ has the better face than me to play the 9 string :D

  • Hah! Waiting for the corpse paint, still need to whip my bandmates into shape! :)

That guitar looks super tasty! I am really interested in clips, how on earth do you get an eight string, leave alone a nine string, to sound like a conventional guitar?

  • AJ with your facial expression on your new avatar you dont need war paint brother
Now here is the thing, it must be the pick ups because the 7th,8th and 9,th string DOES NOT SOUND LIKE A BASS STRING.
I can play thrash on the top 3 strings! , dont believe me? okay let me show you the bass tone that the Schecter EMG's/Ibanez 9's give

Hear the first note Rob scallion plays on this song? That BASS chuggy shit?

THEN SKIP TO 034 SECONDS, HEAR THAT BASS ?

MINE sounds nothing like it!, in fact i could play thrash and modern metal with out a bass sound on my 8th and 9th (6505 sounds killer).
Its hard for me to show you with out clips, but basically, my 9 string sounds like a heavier 6 string if that makes sense???
I cannot stand that bass tone man, its even on the ibanez but not on the Agile elite i have, i was that impressed
that i cancelled my order for bareknuckles, EVERY ONE sounds the same to me with that bass chug shite
I like to listen to it but not play it. Ill record some thing for you soon as i can AJ.

  • Yes, clips would be very desirable. Can't imagine a nine string sounding like anything other than doom!

It must be the pickups, so it would be great if you demo them and the guitar.

  • The latest and definitely my last guitar purchase for a while.

It's a Strandberg Made In Sweden Custom Shop guitar. Pretty much standard with a few options, namely Swamp ash body with walnut top. Seymour Duncan Pegasus and Sentient pickups. 26.5"-28" fanned fret scale. Roasted maple neck.
The thing literally weighs 2.5kg. Unbelievably light. And I know a lot of the guys here don't like headless guitars, but just look at the shape of this thing: very space age.

Wow......this axe looks awesome!!! And i am sure it is....
I would like to try a strandberg once in my life but i know myself well....if i did it, i would not be able to survive the gassss...

Thank you! I bought this guitar full well knowing that it was probably more than I would like to spend on an instrument. But after getting it, wow, the finish and attention to detail are really spot on. Much, much nicer than my Ibbys and the Fender.

Is it worth thousands of dollars more though?

I would say no, because I'm loathe to believe that instruments should cost more than a certain value, and I seriously doubt how much incremental value you can eke out of a quality instrument.

That said, the Strandberg is literally the best guitar I've ever played.

I'd love to try a Strandberg too. I'm pretty sure I'd love it, but I'm a bit worried about the neck and ordering without playing it first. Awesome guitar Nightlight!

Thank you! It is quite a nice axe. Weighs practically nothing, but the resonance and sustain is wonderful. And the neck doesn't take very long to get used to, I'm seldom aware of it anymore than when I play a regular neck. But it is pretty comfortable, haven't felt a cramp despite extended playing time.

  • Finally got around finishing my latest Partscaster project, a Replica of Broadcaster #0211.

    Musikraft Neck (Blackguard #0211)
    Marc Rutters body
    Nitrofinish
    Fender Bridge and Brass saddles
    Misc. hardware Marc Rutters
    Klein Broadcaster pickups
    original blend circuit

Easily the best Tele I ever played with the exception of a real '53 I once had the pleasure to play. Sustain like my Custom Shop Les Paul, plays like butter and roars like mad. Has the classic Broadcaster tones (Mike Campbell, Keith Richards), a true rock maschine.

  • Yes, it does gibson, totally! Absolutely-beautiful, and a delight to behold for a wood-lover like me.

@GregGibbs, didn't I see this axe at Rig Talk recently, or was it a different dude?

I did wonder the moment I saw it, but I think the user name was different.

  • Any suggestions on what names, words or colors the headstock should be are greatly appreciated.

I just put this thing together. It plays like a dream but cosmetically it's not finished yet. need to file the nut edges, finish the back of the neck and the head-stock.

I installed Stainless Steel Frets - Super Jumbo (Jescar frets are awesome). I listened to MM (Nicky) from another thread and now I feel I need to ferret all the guitars with stainless steel. I've done the job myself, bought the right tools and it went pretty smooth.

Seymour Duncan Cool Rails on the bridge is a marriage made in heaven. Two other noiseless pickups (humbcuker in single coil size)

  • Nice guitar, Dean. Personally, I'd get the guitar headstock finished in the same colour as the lovely body.
