its killer, i had the Demo running 1 hour before you could see it on the website haha
Its damn killer!!also the 4 videos to watch...the Drummixvideo has some nice tricks
i´m totally sold. From that day on, i will only use Slate Plugins to mix/master only some extra effects and of course Air EQ . But im sure Slate will also bring out some effects for VMR too
-
Thanks Steven
Seriously, That does look interesting........

Thanks for the post! Just wanted to add that they're giving away a free plugin called Revival, which is some kind of mastering tool, so be sure to download that if you're unable to spring for the channel strip.

I will demo the VMR later today...but I already know I am sold. I already own the VTM, VCC and VBC, so I can well imagine the kind of fat, lively tone these plugins are gonna deliver.
On the other hand after toying with it for about a day, I find AirEq a tad bit cold and edgy...not entailing that I won't get that too I think it does miracles in surgical cuts, so I most likely will be using it to tame low end, and use VMR eqs for more coarse shaping and fattening. -
After SSD4 / VCC /VTM / VCC / VBC i'll get this new one.
Tried yesterday and yep VMR sound good.
I'll surely buy it first now and then AirEQ for mastering job later. -
I've got everything that Slate Digital make plus SS Drums and the extra Trigger packs, so VMR is a no-brainer, hehe!
Cheers,
Sam -
Bought... it really is killer!

Revival is NOT for free.
And it comes with the whole package.
You need to buy some E-lisence dongle.
Now I want to delete it from my Mac/Cubase because it is crashing my Cubase
WTF!And I need a PASSWORD for this:
Last login: Tue Nov 18 10:38:21 on console
macbook:~ ???$ /Applications/Slate\ Digital/Virtual\ Mix\ Rack/Uninstall.command ; exit;
Password: -
Should be your root pw?
-
Solved
it is completly deleted here
Cubase works again. -
I also have VTM, CBV, SSD4 and VCC. I'm definitely not at a level that merits these plugs. In hindsight, I shouldn't have bought them, not yet at least. I should have just stuck with the stock plugs in the DAW and continue to learn on those. Then get the paid-for stuff in a couple of years.
I'll probably get VMR too in a bit.
-
It's funny by the way... Slate always sounds like a cartoon parody of a high school jock to my ears
Anyway, what I like about these plugins are the limited visuals (i.e. no typical graphical EQ curves). Should force one to use one's ears.
-
So I'm playing with the ... black one... The 1176, I think. The ratio buttons are strange. It seems like there is VERY little difference in ratio between them, and it actually seems like the 4 has a HIGHEST ratio, but the difference is very minimal.
Anybody else experience this?

The DEMO is making my REAPER unresponsive on the Macbook Pro.
Just hangs trying to bring up the plugin.
UPDATE: After a few failure, rebooting Reaper twice and it's working.
-
Mine did as well the first time I think. But I got it to work, can't remember if it just took a couple of seconds. Standard IT support question: have you tried closing reaper and trying again?
-
I tried only a little bit to shape the kick in a project of mine. It took a while, I needed to stack the 2 eqs, but ultimately I got what is probably my best kick sound ever (not saying much, I am far from a professional), not so lucky yet with the rest but I will look into it tomorrow.
I personally don't love these interfaces, I know they are sexy but not as immediate as the usual frequency curve. Sure, forces you to mix with your hears, not your eyes, who cares. I just find easier to track my work, especially if I need to stack eqs because I'm out of necessary bands.
Of course there is Eiosis AirEQ for that. However, I am really not sure I am going through with it. That plug is magical for surgical cuts, but I am starting to think that I wouldn't use it for anything else. It sounds just too sharp to my ears, and kind of sucks the natural dirt of the track, if you know what I mean. Makes it sound too processed, even when with very modest boosts/cuts. Hopefully I prove myself wrong before the end of the discount period -
Revival IS free.
If you already have an iLock2 attached to your computer, there is NO COST to download and install it..
If you don't already use an iLock2 with other software, buying one would be required to install Revival.

so so you don't need to buy VMR to get Revival or use it
-
no but you can only use revival as part of the VMR plugin. The VMR will last for 14 days on trail but the revival (which you load within VMR) is free and unlimited. You will want to buy VMR though, its very intuitive to use!!
