Basically since I have updated the firmware I have noticed that the transpose effect sounds robotic when I play higher notes on the guitar. Can anyone help me out?
Since I updated the firmware the transpose sounds robotic

What version did you update to what newer version?
-
I updated to 2.7.3 I can't remember what version I had before
-
Especially if it has been awhile since you updated: look at the "Pure Tuning" check boxes, and see if you like the sound better with it on or off.
-
I only have the option for smooth chords
-
Sorry - I mentioned a parameter that isn't available in all the PITCH types.
Is "Formant Shift" available for the PITCH type you are using?
♦ Formant Shift
Some of the Pitch Shifter effects described here have the option for treating the formants of the signal in a special way. In addition you will find a dedicated Formant Shifter in the Wah effect section.
Formant Shift and Formant Correction are often seen in DAWs and some voice processors. However, they haven’t been presented to the guitar world as yet.
Here’s the story: When you shift your instrument up or down with a pitch shifter, you will shift the characteristic formants of your instrument by the same amount, just as you would if you sped up a recording, or slowed it down. The well-known chipmunk effect also applies to your guitar, morphing it to a bass sound when pitched down by an octave (often desired) or a thin, mandolin sound when shifted up (less desirable). The onset transient, or pick, is altered the most by pitch shifting.
Formant Shifting and Formant Correction can prevent the chipmunk effect on pitch-shifted sounds. Alternatively, it can be used to change the character of the instrument while the pitch is kept the same.
The downside of the formant shifting is that it only works with single notes. Chords will sound odd in most cases. -
So how do I make it sound less robotic like it used too?
-
The sound of the pitch shifter has not changed in the mean time.
Post a recording! -
Are you talking about the transpose function, or the pitch shifter effect?
-
Whoops! Good Question....
But, I don't think the sound of it has changed, either.

KingKobra813, what slot did you put the effect in. For less robotic, I put it in slot A. If I wanted super tight transpose, I'd put it in the X slot post-amp. Try it out and let us know if that floats your boat.
-
Also it sounds more artificial the more halfsteps you're away from the original tuning.

I just tried to put the Transpose effect in the modx place but it isn't there. So I tried to put in slot A and it's also no longer available. Is it possible it was deleted and the effect was just saved on my rig? I also tried to add it to another rig and it doesn't exist. -
I also don't have any of the pitch effects either.
-
What? That's weird, man, how can an effect disappear? Are you sure you're turning the type knob and not the browse knob?

unless you downgraded to a FW version from before pitch fx were added, this cannot happen.
select a slot & turn 'TYPE' (!) - the pitch fx are a little further back -

I feel like a dummy. Well, once I used the type knob it was there but still didn't make a difference on what slot I put it in. -

a pitch effect after the STACK section is already distorted when the harmonies are added, resulting in a somewhat smoother and cleaner sound.
use a minor 3rd for example, the difference should be pretty clear.
both have it's uses. -

I'm not trying to harmonize I'm just trying to drop down 2 half-steps. On the lower strings it sounds fine but when I play on the higher strings it sounds robotic. -
I find the pitch shifters track best with all the formant and smooth chords options turned off. Not sure if transpose has those or not.
All pitch shifting is a little robotic - it has to time shift lots of samples then put them back together. It has to detect pitch to know how to phase shift them so the resulting waveform isnt full of jumps. Its never perfect.
That said my last experience with transpose was very positive. It was very transparent
