Edit: never mind

I don´t what´s the latest status for DI-Box recommendation. I am about to buy one.
Is there any reason not to use the kemper D.I. box? Did someone compare it against some of the other options on the market? -
The Kemper DI box is built specifically for the purpose, so no worries there!
-
Is Kemper going to release the DI box for general sale?
-
They do not push it, but they sell the box on a small scale at the moment. I have emailed support and they have offered it to me. The box arrived today
-
How much is it?
-
90 Euro
-
yes 90 Euro. thats what i have payed too.

question: is there a tutorial for creating direct amp profiles?
in the wiki there is a lot of info about profiling, but i couldn´t find much regarding this specific topic.sorry, I have missed "Profiling Guide 3.0", released on 2015-05-07. All I looked for is in there

Set the Countryman 85 switch to speaker
Instrument cable to the amp guitar input -> Amplifier output (speaker output) to Countryman 85 inst input -> Countryman 85 Amp jack to your speaker cabor
go to http://www.countryman.com/type-85-direct-box and scroll to bottom of page , there is a diagram

I just created 3 or 4 direct profiles, but the sound of these is awesome.
DI-boxes used: "Samson S-direct" and "Palmer PAN 2", the result when using the both DI-boxes is about the same, no noticeable differences in sound.
Profiled Amp: Engl Blackmore (slightly modificated, similar to Engl E-651), channel 4 at 40% gain and 40% master volume
Surprisingly the sound of the Kemper with the profile seems to me to be even better than the original: by tweaking with "definition" and "clarity" it's possible to get a little more punch. I coun't stop playing and grinning... it just blew me away!
On monitor out I use: Matrix GT1000FX with two Engl Pro 2x12"
On main out: Redwirez IR "ENGL Pro 4x12, Vintage 30", Shure SM57, 0" at cap edgeGuitars used: Carvin CS6 with original PU, Peavey Wolfgang Special with Suhr DA-B-50, Yamaha RGX312 with DiMarzio X2N

I got a response from Kemper of $120 USD. I hope that is because of shipping as that exchange rate is a little off. -
Why are you willing to give so much money for just a simple DI? Even a 30$ behringer will do the job as well as an 100$!
-
How can I be sure that a 30$ behringer will do the job as good as the kemper DI?
At least there is a lot of discussion in this thread which DI is to be recommendable.I just wanted to make sure that it is not because of the DI box, if I am not the getting the results I expect. That´s reason enough for me to spend more money.

The company recommended 2 behringer DIs too! Also how do you know that Kemper DI will do the job as good as a behringer DI? Hehe

The Kemper DI will do the job as good as Mr. Kemper intended it to do. I suppose that they have used it during development of FW3.0 and the direct amp profiling feature. If this is not giving me the results I want, then I will know that kemper-profiler/FW 3.0 isn´t doing it for me.
If i would use the behringer box, I could never be sure. -
I asked this same question on the TGP. Here is a link:
-
thanks for the link. thats very helpful information.
Now its clear the the DI does have an impact on the result, more or less. Some posts there say that the DI might even have a "positive" or "desired" impact. I would say if the impact is "desired" or not, strongly depends on the rest of the signal chain and, as always personal taste. Regarding the frequency or filter impact it is the same story as with guitar cables.
But I would say that the Kemper DI is a kind of a "reference", because it has been used during development.
Of course, if someone gets perfect results with behringer or other DIs... be happy an go on with it.
I just wanted to avoid testing x-number of DI´s.
(To be honest, up to now I am not satisfied with the results using the Kemper DI. But I have had it just for one day. Let´s see how it goes on.) -

I never said I was willing to pay it, I just quoted the price. I am NOT willing to pay that much even if it is from Kemper. I have the Behringer Ultra-G but will probably add the ProCo DB1
