After one week of pure wonder and enjoyment from this amazing machine, the only technical difficulty I've had is with humans.
A few people have commented on this strange faraway look in my eyes and occasional crazy smiling to myself. Those who have seen the Kemper on my desk have been baffled. What is this weird looking retro toaster thing with lights all over it?
How do you explain to non musicians what a Kemper is? This is not covered in the manuals. Hopefully this analogy I have settled on will help you if you receive the same questions 'why are you grinning like an idiot?' and 'what the hell is that thing?'.
So, this is how i describe it:
Imagine you have a bottle that you can pour any drink from? What if you could ask your magic bottle to be filled with Romanee Conti Pinot Noir one second and JD and Coke the next? What if you could make your single JD a quadruple instantly then make it a brandy a second later, or take that Romanee Conti and weave in some lemonade? What if you could put your bottle next to a bottle of your favourite squeezed orange and magically replicate that squeezed orange and immediately drink it, not just at that moment, but at any time you want, as often as you want?
The Kemper is that magical bottle for guitarists. It allows us to get any flavour, style, vintage or mix of flavours styles and vintages...on tap, exactly like the original.
This has worked with all of the concerned people around me.
