Hey guys
so we had the first show tonight in Sendai. As you aptly predicted, trying to do a restore failed until we updated the firmware/OS to match my Kemper.
then 10 minutes later the restore worked perfectly and off we went. What a pleasure to just sound exactly the same without having to bring anything but the bass guitar.
And thanks to all AGAIN for the able assistance.
i’m glad I asked here in time or we WOULD have been in trouble. So glad it worked out! Have a ball and greetings to Cyndi!

wwittman Great to hear and thanks for following up. Being confident to travel with nothing but a USB stick or two is a huge advantage of this tech, and hopefully more people jump on that wagon.
Curious though, where did you end up getting a copy of the old FW? Kemper support? or is there a repository online somewhere with them all available? Might be helpful for others if one exists?

Another forum member graciously offered it via PM

Definitely the way forward....have fun dude and glad it worked!

And if you feel like a spontaneous trip to Kathmandu, Nepal at the end of this leg ... let me know so I can hook you up with some great people on the feet of the Himalayas.

Such a neat and clean set up...although you are missing a couple of strings off that guitar ( sorry, crap joke..).
-
Yes. I’m hoping to save up enough to buy the extra strings.
You’ll notice that the wireless unit receiver is sitting on top of the rack and that there’s a rack tuner (which I can see across stage without glasses more easily than I can see the built in tuner in the KPA or remote) sitting under it.
In my own set up for domestic touring all that is built into one rack plus a space to store the remote in transit.
Still all in all, for rental/supplied backline, fairly tidy, as you say, and easy enough for the crew to set up.

Dude that is so cool.
I'm not a pro musician, someone who just plays at weekends, so its cool to see how "the other half" live!
I'm in a tribute to The Cult and I got to go back stage and meet Billy Duffy last week and just seeing the set up and how it all works is amazing to me, so keep tghis stuff coming...I love it!
Hope you have a great gig!
-
I'm having some really weird issues restoring my backups, so for me that's currently a no haha...
-
It's great to know how easy it is to go 'on the road' nowadays with just a guitar (or bass in your case!) and a USB... As others said, I hope more music instruments rental companies begin to buy Kempers as a standard for the touring musician!
Have a great tour there in the far east!
On the other hand, it actually seems future is now, Ingolf !
Seriously, I believe in the future when big shows will be even more "events" and "happenings" as they are now when you purchase a ticket you’ll get a decent pair of inears plus and app that will enable you as a customer not only how loud you want it to be but also what kind of mix you want: more drums, more guitar, more vocals, etc.
The customers' experience will be finally customizable.
It will come.
