Love the walkdown riff. I am partial to those.
I get what you say about shortening. Most songs have basically three parts that get repeated throughout the tune (about 3 times). You can add two more parts by using a different intro and outro. The problem is doing a chug or a baseline on a verse and you don't have vocals to lay over it which sound boring so I sort of skip that part until I find a voice. I can't stand 'Eyes Without a Face' more that 30 seconds unless Idol is singing over it.

Therefore err on the side of packed brevity rather than long empty.
Especially for just "getting things down".

Are you using any dirt on bass for I AM? I really like that bass tone.
-
I can't remember BayouTexan , I might have. I generally go for bass profiles in the bass pack and mostly the ST - 59 BM 2 and 3 amps, but sometimes others with a little more grit or slightly different sound. I also occasionally use the UAD Capitol Mastering Compressor which is my favorite compressor of theirs and has a nice fuzzy saturation on it that I quite like on vocals and bass.

Vox nice and "notey" brother.
Well done!
-
Thanks Monkey_Man !
I don't know what "notey" means in this context. Do you mean the use of separate notes per word without portmanteaux? -
Na mate, just what I've always encouraged - that the notes be easily-discernible, which they are this time.
There've been several instances this past month where you've nailed that. Hopefully you'll figure out exactly what it is you did to bing forth this result.

Maybe someday

Was it “notey” again? If so then perhaps the solution is cut mids, boost low mids and add a little distortion?
