There is a bit of Three Dog Night tone on that right guitar track.
Thanks Franjoe30 and BayouTexan !
Major computer troubles tonight, constantly stuttering, stoping playback etc, but still got something done.
A section sounds math-rocky bro'.
Well done!
I had to look that up Monkey_Man ! Thanks, so a genre defined by complex rhythms dissonant chords, start/stops, related to post-rock… pretty much it. I do kinda like little naive style tracks like that, early Modest Mouse, Promise Ring, Cap’n Jazz, Flaming Lips, noize guitar stuff, so raw, so alive to me.
Love the guitars Per, nice busy drums to compliment them too, like chili peppers, did you use a strat?
Thanks deangersmith ! Just a very trebly profile, trusty les paul on this one.
Having computer issues myself but more like mouse issues. Every single click on the mouse doubles the action. Driving me nuts! New mouse comes today.
Sounds painful BayouTexan

Not as painful as the damn trigger finger on fretting hand but so hard to navigate the DAW.
BTW, I have been working on a mix for the last two weeks. Again, it's the drum track taking the longest.
(That was supposed to be on one smiley face but the crap ass mouse gave me two.)

you should try the opposite, like most of us do : start from the groove and build from this bottom

Only thing is, I hear (in my head) the guitar groove first, then the vocals... and drums last. Franjoe30 suggested I highlight my notes with the kick or snare which has me actually playing drums instead of editing the midi -- which is totally messed up right now since one beat comes out to two beats with the damn broken mouse!
The mouse I have is a gaming mouse and I have it custom weighted. Had it for almost 10 years so I'm getting a replacement gaming mouse today or tomorrow depending on delivery. For me to use a basic mouse now would be like trying to play a $69 Amazon guitar.
Try this. Record the first few bars of your guitar riff to the metronome, set your daw to loop playback of the region.
Now go into superior drummer, grooves, tap to find. Now just tap a beat the feels right kick and snare only, or even just kick. Look through the results to find one that kinda fits, doesn’t have to be perfect. Drag that one onto the timeline, duplicate it a bunch of times till you have enough to record to.
Now go back and re-record your riff and the rest of your guitar and bass. Finally go back and find related parts to just drag out (browse containing folder). Use fills between important sections. Go into sections and edit them the easy way, starting with just changing the intro hit, lead band instrument etc, finally if necessary going into the grid view to add or remove key hits. Don’t forget you can still do a tap to find over different sections of the full track.
In general don’t bother full programming drums from scratch unless there’s nothing even close in the library or online store. Even then only if it’s absolutely necessary, people won’t know your intent, only what you’ve presented, that’s ok. Let go of perfectionism.
Maybe also 'cause they're classic-'80s mate.
Great feel on that one Per.
True dat Monkey_Man , thanks MuddySludge !
