Thanks Franjoe30 and Monkey_Man ! You're very kind but I'm not sure how to elevate what I've got into the "I'd actually want to listen to that territory", it's possible, I hear tracks from some kid in their basement on a dollar budget that sound epic all the time. It remains annoyingly elusive for me.

Might want to dial the sibilance back a bit Brother Per.
It's been creeping up steadily...

Yeah, I didn’t use any de-essing on this but pushed the treble a lot for clarity, should have thrown one on there, my own fault for being in a rush.

Flares raises an important question; Should the single track guitar be on the left channel since it's closet to the driver (American driving side)? I wondered if the Van Halen albums were mix that way because of automobile driver position, and also having sound effects swoosh from left to right because we read that way? Hmmmm.....

That changes country to country, in England it would have to be panned right. No idea why EVH did it that way, but here it's purely laziness.

Again attempting to get soft sounds and dimensionality. -

One of the best soft vocals I ever heard was Queensryche -Silent Lucidity especially under headphones. No easy task by far.

As happened quite some time ago, the midrange frequencies of the lead vox make it pop and melodically-intelligible brother.
IIRC the last time I said this you told me you'd used a speaker IR or something?
At any rate, it "proves" yet again what I've been saying all along. The voice is there; it just needs to be allowed to shine / shown in the proper light, which is IMHO, again oft-repeated of course:
1) Bring it to the front and get it out of the 'verb-wash funk - CHECK
2) Accentuate the mids if need be / don't scoop them out in order for the pitch components to be easily-heard - CHECK
IOW, in my humble opinion - SUCCESS brother!

You’re right Monkey_Man in this case the verse has a telephone like narrow band eq while I was thinking of your advice I was also wanting to get that 90’s emo sound, and the chorus just has a little distortion and compression otherwise is straight out of the mic.
Shame the voice isn’t good enough to be that far forward, but it’s clear sounding and you’re right that to me sounds about where a voice would be mix level-wise on more polished tracks.
