I guess they are retiring and need the money. 
Muse are certainly not retiring.
For a touring band like Muse it makes perfect sense to unload gear that they have no more use for.
And I highly doubt they‘ll achieve celebrity prices for their Profilers only because they leave their rigs on it.
But I could be wrong. 😎

The Profilers sold fast, and they managed to sell these used items for prices that you pay for new ones IIRC.

I remember i saw Muse in '99 maybe 2000 for the showbiz tour for a like £5 with a then unknown band called Coldplay...Muse were and still are to this day one of the greatest live shows ive seen they were incredible.Coldplay were dull dogsh*it even back then too lol i heard Muse are trying to go all metal recently...weird.
They sold all the kempers because they turned to fractal axe III (they were already using the axe II for all their live effects.. kempers were used only for profiling Amps)

Hundreds. Basically, they profiled all their amps, on different channels, settings, etc.
This is both for bass and guitars, mine included everything.
It's mostly amp profiles, not many effects.
I have to investigate more, but I believe some profiles were created to include fuzz/distortion pedals:
I recall some "Animato Markbass", "Muff Marshall" and so on
They sound great, no doubt about it

They run a silent stage and in-ear monitors. You can read an interview with their bass tech here
99% of the profiles in the Kempers had the cab section active. The only exception I found was an "Acoustic" profile which has a cab section but it was turned off, probably because they wanted to go DI without the added filtering (it was an AC30 cab, btw)

I saw them in early 2000 as they were the opening band for Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers in the US. They were incredible, just a wall of sound and that wailing operatic voice. I got their CD and it never really grabbed me the same was as their live stuff. And the later singles I heard didn't do much for me. But that show the same time you saw them was awesome, especially in a big arena.
