Kempler Player I can't find a way to turn the device on and off?

You saying you cannot turn it on by plugging in the power to it via the supplied power-supply unit?

there is no power switch on the unit. you plug it in to turn it on and unplug it to turn it off. admittedly, i don't love this design so i bought an inline switch for barrel jacks. i like it much more.

im almost certain that Kemper could be able to program the Player to turn off with say a button combo or something but i'm not quite sure they could do the same to power it up.

I see it more of an Amp than an Effects pedal. You always leave your amps on, or at least on standby. Effects are the ones that go on and off.

i was/am concerned about the higher potential of wear & tear on the jack and barrel over time.

YMMV with these switches. some of the most cheap ones are all over place with build quality and dimensional tolerance deviations. but having the inline switch has been really nice and reassuring for sure. i went through this when i first got the unit...

totally. One more thing to fail if you have a switch.

If the designers thought it needed it they would have built one in.

a power switch can fail. a female barrel jack can fail. a male female jack can fail. the worst situation being if the internal jack wears out from the frequent plug-in/unplug action. if i can take the stress off of that jack at all, i'm gonna. so i did.

the thing is, any of these points can fail. but in my experience a power switch has never failed on me. jacks have. having the switch gives me more of a relief than anything and it is way more convenient. if it fails, oh well, it's external and generic and cheap so grab another. if the internal jack fails, the fix will not be as pain-free.

Could also get a power strip and use the off- on switch that way.

Thanks man! Just ordered one. My guess is the ones not getting why one want a switch already have a rack/head in their studio. Many new buyers now getting into the Kemper world for the first time probably want to have their Player connected in their home studios for a period of time. Just as they power on and off their pc's, keyboards, rack tuners and external preamp etc, they would want to have the ability to do the same for their Players. Thanks again for the link, it's an elegant and cheap solution. 🙂
