I would take my Gibson Les Paul Custom (2004 built '68 reissue).
I don't want to live without it, it's the guitar love of my life.
Only ONE Guitar?

My Nik Huber Krautster II is the most versatile guitar i ever played.

Love my brian moore 8.13 has a duncan jb and alnico with coil taps, rmc piezo for acoustic tones, and 13pin for roland/axon midi gear. My swiss army guitar
-
Any of my 13 pin equipped axes can serve as my only guitar since I can coax nearly any guitar tone and tuning, acoustic or electric from them. The Variax and VG Strat can do a few things but true hex pickup with off board processing is awesome.

Last week I got my new Warmoth strat:
[Blocked Image: http://www.audiosemantics.de/FORUMS/GreenStrat-small.jpg]Chambered mahogany body with extra wide and fat neck of maple with ebony fretboard and EMG SAX pickups but the best thing turned out to be this 2Tec bridge: it's gorgous for sustain and clarity.
It has these OnyxForge bolts on the neck so that I can unscrew the neck when I fly: Guitar and other stuff checked in inside the suitcase and the KPA in my hands as cabin luggage.

Now that's cool!

Hmm so it's simply using threaded inserts to provide a more solid connection between neck and body. I suppose this also makes it less likely to somehow destroy the existing screw holes in the body (once the inserts are there). Interesting. Please update us on how this works for you.

Yes, to me this is the main purpose. Just avoiding the wear off from the wood-screws inside the neck holes. Roy, the guitar maker who offers this, wrote me it would even improve the sound quality because it is easier to create a tight contact between neck and body with mechanic screws. I cannot hear a difference in sound before and after but mounting a neck with metal screws is certainly easier than wood screws.
I will keep you posted.

2012 Tom Anderson I custom ordered. Solid rosewood neck, oversize profile, hollow body, 24.75" scale (shorty) - my #1 guitar. Next three places are other Tom Andersons. They are expensive but well worth it.

I find myself reaching for my Gibson Flying V more than anything else!
-
My Brian Moore i9. Kind of a love/hate relationship but I always come back to it.
She will return to the Brian Moore's factory soon for major upgrades and repairs.
-
This is not easy - I have a few "general use" guitars - a lot of times do I use the guitar which I own for the longest time.

Boy, you sure scraped up an old thread! -
5 years ago I'd never have said this but... Gibson Les Paul
Simply because there is no amp it doesn't sound good on. Every other guitar I have can be picky with certain amps.
The Gibson just eats every amp up. Wines, dines, and tears them up. I have the Traditional with Classic 57 and 57 Plus.
It has bad-assed distortion and chunky metalic crunch. The cleans are great, but clinically so, not beautiful. This is all based on Classic Rock, not Metal, Funk, etc.
Second place now, well that would cause a Hunger Games...

lots of folks on this thread tend to prefer a semi hollow with single coil (P94 are P90 but humbucker sized ) / soap bars pickups , I strongly agree !
they have all the tone one can imagine, and an incredible versatility, not to mention the warmth, attack & acoustic qualities ... My choice is my 80"s Ibanez artist on P94 :- Typical honky Les paul lead or driven tone : check (just put tone knob to 5)
- Tele twang : check
- Strat bliss, both neck and bridge PU : check
- modern lead tone like PRS : check
- warm jazz tones or bell like cleans : check
- funk machine : check
...
and the list goes on and on forever ...I'd keep a stock tele or strat as a backup.
