I just downloaded it and am going home now to try it! I love that we can organize performance with the new rig manager, this will help me soooooooo much!
-
So far so good, pretty subtle changes with pure cab at regular volume levels. Will test higher volumes this weekend..
thanks KPA team
-
Per-Rig Pure Cab would be awesome - no doubt it will come.
In the meantime, if you set and forget your Output EQ flat for all situations [ and many people do ] just unlock the Output, pull up each rig, set the Pure Cab to your ears for that rig, save and repeat for each rig.
But yes, Pure Cab in each Rig woud be good - but franly, so far, I have it set to around 4.5 across the board and there isn't a Rig that hasn't been beautifully de-mic'd ....even the MB rigs sound better ...and I never thought I say that

Maybe my ears are getting old but I cant hear the difference with purecab on or off (and set to 10)
I've tried a couple of clean, overdriven and more overdriven sounds to no avail.
I'm going out of my SPDIF, into the soundcard and then out to headphones (it's late here) just cant hear it, sob. -

I trust me headphones more than me ears...but I'll eat that crumb of comfort:)
I'll try it on the monitors tomorrow. -
installed the firmware and got the error:
expr=sqlite3_step( mGetSlotIds ) == SQLITE_ROW
file=../src/profmodes.cpp
line=3270
func=void Profiler:;ProfilerModes:;RetriveTrackIDs(Profiler:;ExtractedPerformanceData&)
swvs="Release: 3.1.0.11311" (CRC=44CDA158)
Contacted support, but anyone already got solution?
No. You can reinstallv 3.0.2 from pendrive . Put kaos.bin on root folder- turn KPA on holding both PAGE <> buttons.

Also may be the rig(s) you happen to be trying it with don't exhibit that much 'mic' sound to clean out and therefore won't change much. As Don said in a previous post this thing is adaptive. Don's quote is below.
Pure Cabinet is adaptive, rigs that'll need more treatment will get more. It's a really smart parameter.
Browse the Rig Exchange with Pure Cabinet activated - lot's of fun! -
Did a backup before and after the new firmware and the backup files size has increase by 3x or so (was 2mb now about 6.9mb)
anyone else notice this?Im also now getting a few "not enough space" errors when backing up, if there is any other Kemper files such as rigs etc on the USB drive (even though there's plenty of free space)
cheers -
Are you shure that you not doubled the rigs with the backup?

Maybe because of additional repository.kdb is now created (It's quite large). -
How would purecab affect profiles if the profiles were from amp sims with IRs? would be interesting to hear
-
I have one problem - If you are in the output menu on page 5/6 ( to check new Pure Cabinet on/off) and you loading Rig preview from RM - the softbutton 3 change to "Rate Preview" . You have to hit Exit to have back "Pure Cabinet" option under this button. It's uncomfortable to hit exit every time you want to load next rig from RM.
-
@DamianGread: I have noticed the same thing - but really, this parameter is meant to be global - so either you decide you want it on with your choice of the amount of the algorithm taking care of the sound - or you leave it turned off. It's uncomfortable - but only while doing the testing. Once you have made your decision, it won't matter anymore.

If you ask yourself what purecab does, here´s a little frequency analysis comparison of two reamps with the same rig. Blue is with pure cab off, yellow is with pure cab set to maximum. Red is the EQ difference between the two. You can see that while it preserves the lower frequency range, it evens out the frequency response of the cab in the mids and highs.
My experience is that i like pure cab on crunch tones and such rigs that have some overpronounced frequencies that results in "boxyness". On my own favourite high gain rigs, i do not like pure cab because it takes away some of the special character. Subtle differences and detail between similar sounding rigs get evened out more by using pure cab.

I was definitely skeptical of this feature at first, and while i admitted it sounded great for some rigs, some rigs i felt it made things a little "off". I finally decided to set and forget it at 5.5. I havent looked back. Most of the time it sounds great - definitely very similar to an amp in the room tone. Hopefully we see it adjustible per rig in the future
Agree 100%. -

Its bug from this thread:3.1.0 public beta crash after install -
I am a technical junkie, and love reading patent documents. I understand that the "Pure Cabinet" feature has a pending patent application (per the notes in the Kemper addendum manual). I tried searching the USPTO database for patent applications by Christoph Kemper, but only found the original KPA application and full patent ("Musical instrument with acoustic transducer"). I also searched the European Patent database, but got the same results. That is, the searches are only coming up with the original 2008 patent for the Kemper Profiling Amp.
Does anyone have a download link for the patent application specific to the new "Pure Cabinet" algorithm / feature?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
John
