New kemper user here, and I must thank everyone in the forum because I’ve learned quite a bit browsing the boards. Love my new PowerRack, and it’ll be nice to have this resource available! Here’s my unit (after a knob mod)

Is there anything special about the Kemper power amp in the powered models? Is it just a solid state clean? i.e., if you already had a Crown, QSC or similar, could you get the same effect with the non-powered?
-
For me it’s the back up advantage. You can go direct out to FOH when live but use the power amp as a backup if a small venue doesn’t have a house PA or there are not enough inputs in your own PA or you need to power a monitor.
It’s a class D solid state but hey it doesn’t sound half bad! You can always go direct out into a valve amp or return into a power guitar amp. For the price difference why not? -
Thanks Deej09. The reason I ask is that I do have two tube amps I could use in 4Cbl (Mesa and Blackstar) to use the output section and the speaker, but I also have an old Crown 200w stereo PA amp. It is super clean amplification. I've been looking at the rack version and was thinking of getting the unpowered rack and tossing it in a rack case with the Crown. i.e., no need to spend the extra on the Kemper powered version.

no problem John Pierce I'm always one to over engineer and if I can afford I will alway level up to my budget constraints.
What you are saying though should serve you very well. Enjoy..
