If you can make them ring with an unplugged guitar, you can do it even better with any Rig. Listen to some old ZZ Top, or other Classic Rock, to hear how little gain they were using to do it back then.
With '80s/'90s gain, it is even easier. JCM800,Jubilee, and Soldano Rigs can make it easy. Try some Profiles of the amps used by the Artists you have mentioned.

As far as generating better punch harmonics, a bit of extra gain helps. A fuzz does wonders. Billy Gibbons is one example. Eric Johnson’s violin-like lead tone (in part) is a fuzz-face and the liquid sustain it gives.
fresh strings capable of creating higher order harmonics certainly help.
a hard pick with a point, like a Jazz III also helps, the rest is technique
You can also try an alternate technique. Hold the pick between thumb and middle finger, extend your index finger and touch the string ahead of the pick as you pluck. Where you touch changes the harmonic which rings out. There's way less of the plucked note, but the harmonic is clearer. Makes playing The Attitude Song riff super easy.
With the Bridge pickup it is also easier to do...
If you want to find the frequency to boost, a good way is to create a loop of yourself, set to allow edits and experiment with EQ settings.

No. But.
You can apply varying degrees or V shaped EQ to boost the highs, scoop the mids, and bump up the bass. which has a very similar effect.
