Hello, I've been playing the Axe FX II for about a year and just traded it for the Kemper. The choice was driven by the desire to have a more portable and easier to tweak unit. We'll see how things go. The first thing I notice after my first several days, apart from the overall great sound of the Kemper, is that for a band like mine, where we do blues, rockabilly and classic rock, the clean and slightly dirty profiles of the Kemper are absolutely fantastic. I've owned several vintage Fenders, including blackface and tweed in various configurations - the Kemper in my opinion does an incredible job in this department. Ralph in NYC.

Hi Ralph. Welcome to the forum!

Hey Ralph! Welcome to Kemperland!
You're in for a long wild ride. If you're a Fender freak there's a fantastic set (14?) of free Bassman and Supersonic rigs by LENOULD Thierry in the Rig Exchange. -
Greetings from Vegas!

Ciao Ralph, welcome

Welcome man, you made a great decision

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome! After a short period of adaptation, you will start loving it more and more to the point of questioning why you didn't get one before...
-
Welcome and enjoy!
btw. I played the Ultra and II before I got the Kemper in 2011 as well.

Welcome
I have been gigging my kemper for over a year now and play Rockabilly,Blues,Country
you'll love it -although.....a delay in front of the amp would be nice -
Welcome! I was also an AxeII user a long time ago
I think you will really like the KPA. I do. -
Hi Ralph,welcome

There is definitely something to the raw crunch of a no-effect old amp. Some of Andy's from his Vintage pack like the 55 Gibson amp sound like the paper is rattling to me.
Ear Candy for sure on such tones!

Welcome !
I am blues/rock player as well , and in Kemperland you can find tons of fantastic brown sounds .Just check some of free profiles and some of commercial , boutique amp profiles .
Start with famous Morgan AC 20 , free profile , you will know what I mean.
Armin's Bassman or Andy's Fargen, Watkins... are just superb for Blues , Classical Rock.
The best thing is that you can play just ONE rig !
All the rest you do with your guitar tone/volume pot and different coil use.
From clean to brown to high gain -all in one bloody rig.
Such a dynamic couldn't be find in other digital devices (or not even in real amps sometimes )

Welcome & enjoy, Ralph!

Welcome!
Some of the tweed and blackface Fender rigs are so playable, I've not felt the need to profile my 1966 Deluxe Reverb.
-
Armin's Fender Deluxe's record real well (52 and 57) and really surprised me at how well they do in the mix.

Welcome!
I came from the Axe II as well. Had it for about a year and a half. I'm loving the Kemper. With the Axe, it was just a never-ending tweakfest trying to get tones I liked. Now I have so many profiles I like that it's hard to choose what to use since I like them all so much.
Plenty of great rigs on the free exchange...just takes a little more effort to sort through them to find the ones you like. Luckily, Rig Manager has made this a piece of cake. I've bought a lot of commercial profiles as well and generally (for me) they're a little bit more of a "sure thing" in terms of whether I'll like them or not. I'd say I've been happy with about 80% of all the commercial profiles I've bought vs. maybe 10% on the free exchange.

Former NYCer here.
Brought a chunk-o-Yankee to the South to spice up the stew!
Now? Rocking the South Y'all!! (disclaimer: rocking the former master bedroom in a small subdivision to an audience of birds)
