Well I finally did it and bought a KPA!
This looks like friendly and helpful place so I thought I would join the gang!
I was always of the old school guitar players and recording methods that involved sticking mics in front of very loud valve amps and shutting the door.
This all changed a few years back when I stared home recording and suddenly found that due to sleeping children and close neighbours winding up a Marshall valve head past half way wasn't an option!
I started using Line 6 POD's and got some pretty good results which got better as the newer versions arrived with better modelling technology. My biggest issue was always the fact that the models didn't react as they should when rolling off the volume or playing with different levels of aggression - fair to say some patches were better than others.
I went in search of other products and even considered an AXE FX until I got my first taste of a KPA up close with a chance to hear a live demo - I was blown away and the credit card came out straight away!
I was even more impressed when I got the KPA back home and plugged it into my desk - I must have played more guitar in a week that over the last six months due to this new purchase.
So what do I like or dislike so far:
The fact that someone like me can now play through and record with amps like Bogners, Soldano's etc in my own studio is incredible.
The response and feel is the real deal!
The amount of profiles available and the community is beyond impressive
What I dislike:
It looks big and different to anything else so I couldn't hide it from the wife with the usual "Oh I've had it years but not used it much"
Would love a software profile editor to change effects and build rigs.
Nothing else!
Anyway - back to playing!
