You could always enjoy the wood here and then knock yourself on the head with your own crappy-looking axe as you leave the room, Dean.
Think MIB mem-flash stick, but with a whole lotta wood.

Looks incredible, @PVO_Dave.
It'd be great if you could post a clip of how it sounds one day; I find myself imagining all sorts of woody goodness when looking at it.
EDIT:
I mean on its own, of course; not in a mix.I'll do that at some point @Monkey_Man - Playing it through the Kemper just a minute ago, you can get Les Paul (ish) from the bridge (which is why I went for a mahogany body) loving it
-
Ha! That's exactly why I've always gone for mahogany bodies for Strat-style guitars when possible, Dave, although to my ears the similarities are more-evident from the neck PU.
The definitive test for me is lead played around the 12th fret or above using a neck HB through high gain. Does it sing like a LP? If it doesn't under these conditions, I've failed in speccing the guitar build or bought a lemon.

Hey MM, when was the last time? I mean what´s the difference between mahogany and another dense wood like swamp ash? Or even alder?
-
4 Minutes into the video he drops pieces of different woods on the floor.

IMHO, the mahogany sounds duller, but its mid range and lows are much-more-woody in character. Simple as that, really.
I argued about this in another thread ad nauseam, only to be proved right, along with a couple of other members who exercised great patience, as did I, with those who claimed that wood types made no difference.
The ash and alder you mentioned sound very-similar to each other when compared with mahogany, which is in a different league altogether sound-wise. The example I used in that thread was of the Suhr Modern Pro vs the Modern Satin, which employ exactly the same hardware and body shape, but the Modern uses "conventional" Strat woods and the Satin has both a mahogany neck and body. The differences are chalk and cheese. One is brighter, thinner and more-chimey, the other darker, woodier, fatter and much-more characterful.
When Dave eventually gets around to posting clips of his beautiful beastie, you'll hear how different it sounds (and I haven't even heard it!) from "conventionally-wooded" (ash or alder bodies and maple necks) super Strats. Once one knows the general "sound" of mahogany, one can predict to an extent how a guitar will sound; the same goes for other woods and combinations used in bodies, necks and tops. A maple top on a mahogany body, for example, acts like what I like to call a "projection plate", meaning that acoustically it increases apparent volume (could be a Fletcher-Munson thing), certainly brightness, as it does electronically; it helps a mahogany guitar cut through a mix, for instance.
That's all I've got to say on the matter, Freisegler; I'll not allow myself to be drawn into an argument (not with you, but anyone else who wants to jump in here and tell me that I'm full of it) about this, 'cause I've proved to myself many, many times that my statements above are true.
Thanks for your interest, man.
EDIT:
Had you posted that clip before I started constructing this quite-involved response to Freisegler, 'Sludgie, I'd not have bothered with the details so much. I of course agree with the luthier's comments; his knowledge of woods extends orders of magnitude beyond mine 'though - it's his job to know this stuff, after all, whereas I'm just a punk with toilet water behind his ears. -

Only if "ack" is the sound of an orgasm. Three PRSes with tops like that in five weeks, wow.I'll give you some wacky advice: Which one do you play the most? Sell one of those three that you least like and buy one more
-
LoL... I play everything I have pretty regularly. My trampas green CE-24 with custom wound Zhangbucker.com pickups probably gets played the most. Those pickups are KILLER!
I think I'm bought out for awhile.
