I would like to know if you still use external effects - either with the KPA or when you still use tube amps in addition.
Do you still use external effects?
-
-
I use a Talkbox with the KPA. Other than that, I use the KPA internal effects.
If I was to do a gig with my Marshall, I would use the Talkbox, a VHT Valvulator, and a TC Electronic G-System for effects.

KPA and H9 Max
-
KPA & FX8
-
No.
-
In front of the Kemper: Free the Tone Gigs Boson, Digitech Bad Monkey
In stereo loop: ABY-Box, Neunaber Wet Reverb, Strymon Deco (Doubletracker always on), Strymon TimelineI'm trying to size it down, but I haven't found a way to substitute especially the fat ones
-
No. Will be used in DAW for mixing only.
-
in front Whammy DT - in the Kemper loop Eventide H9 + EHX Mel 9 (and maybe also my old Digitech XP 300 back in due time)
-
Hi there!
I still use Whammy DT -> Cry Baby -> TS 808HW -> TC Dreamscape -> KPA PowerRack (and from KPA direct out to my tuner Boss TU2...i'm still waiting for my Remote Control to arrive :D)
-
At the minute I use either just the Kemper all in one with the built in effects.
When I use my Marshall head I use a 4 cable method and use the Kemper purely for the effects sending the stomps to the front of the amp and X, MOD, Del and Rev to the FX loop with the amp and cab section disabled but the EQ still active in the stack section.
If recording generally everything dry and add effects either with outboard gear or plugins at mixing
-
No I use the internal effects but very guardedly. Else I do like Monkey_man use de daw effect plugins.
-
Sometimes I use my Digitech Mosaic. Other than that only internal FX.
-
I do use external effects quite a bit ... but I either use them in front or after the Kemper. I never use the effects loop cause it's just way to noisy, sadly.
-
No effect exept sometimes TC-Electronic - Hall of fame (Reverb) for big performances. (1 to 2 per year)
-
I've just got a french boutique fuzz in front of the KPA, Nitrogen21 and it's an very good way to tweak my dist & fuzz manually on all my own profiles, just like I'd do with regular amps. I just love this setup, as it will add some very dirty tones I cannot achieve easily with the internal fuzz & dists.

Liam, are you using the KPA Remote to switch the channels on the Marshall? Or are you using the Marshall foot controller to change presets on the Kemper? I am trying to figure out how to use only the effects of the KPA using the 4CM in a H&K Grandmeister 36, but would like to be able to use the CC's for volume and wah.
-
The only external fx i use is the Paul Gilbert Aeroplane Flanger. Crazy little pink thing.

@metalgodinwaiting I don't switch channels is a single channel 1980 modded JMP. I just use a Behringer FCB1010 to scroll through rigs in performance mode.
Guitar to Kemper input
Direct out to marshall input
Monitor out to amp fx loop return
Amp FX Loop send to Kemper return
Then I use a distortion loop in slot D -
H9 Max
i love the sound of this together with the KPA
with KPA together unlimited FX possibilities -
Nope!
Pure, unadulterated, straight up Kemper all the way
I don't record .... so only live gigs here. I have found that the KPA offers more than adequate efx (some are extremely good in fact) for live use.
For me, setup, tear down, and reliability are the most important factors. More cables, power supplies, etc, etc just really doesn't make sense IME.
