Have a CLR, thinking of swapping over to Kemper Kab. Any thoughts?

Having had a CLR for years (and other FRFR solutions as well) I can honestly say the Kemper KAB is much more fun (due to the imprints).

Uh one thought... swap.

IME they are such different devices that it's hard to compare them.
If your use is strictly guitar-oriented I agree with Ingolf that the Kabinet can be funnier at home or as a personal monitoring system.
OTOH, the CLR is more linear, can express higher SPLs, and is way less directive. Furthermore, when used with Studio or Merged profiles it is more faithful to the profile's tone.
When also used with other instruments or as a PA there's of course no comparison. -
I’ve been using a CLR NEO For years, I also have a Powered Kabinet, I’m still using my CLR
I like the way I can hear the difference between open & closed back cabs
Plus it holds together with my GR55 guitar synth

Thanks guys! Seems like my CLR is still enough for me Need to get the dan thing converted from US to UK power now...
-
don’t they make converter boxes for that

If you are after a good live feel and sound you might consider to check the Laney LFR112. I use 2 of them on stage. Works fine.

It almost certainly has a power transformer with multiple taps for different voltages. A decent tech should be able to switch the wire to the correct tap in a few minutes. If you are lucky they might even do it while you wait. I bought a US powered THD BiValve and took it to Strung Out Guitars in Glasgow. At the time they had an amp tech who came into the shop on Thursdays. I popped in on a day I knew he was going to be there and he swapped it to UK 240v while I played a few nice guitars ?

Thanks guys! Yes, I think it is a quick change but need to get it to someone I trust to do the work! Currently running through a power convertor but it's a pain in the arse.
-
Yes, I had a power converter at first too. Don’t worry too much about who does the work it is so simple any competent tech can do it. THD even sent me a word doc with some photos incase I wanted to do it myself ?

If you are happy with it then stick with it. It is different to the Kab, plus you would most likely have to revisit all your settings as we tend to tune our profiles etc to our monitor of choice.
Where in the UK are you, if you are nearby, happy for you to try my Kabinet ( as I love it).

Thanks! I'm down in deepest darkest Cornwall! You?
